The second condition
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
To enjoy a 10-minute strait cruise feeling it reasonable,
I mentioned “good weather” as a condition last time,
but there’s actually one more condition.
And that is…
Weekday and in the Afternoon!
It is common knowledge among locals that both the port town on this side and the fish market on the other side are very popular as weekend destinations.
The basic thinking of the host, who generally dislikes crowds, is that there is no need to go out to be in a crowd on such a weekend.
There are some benefits to visit there on weekdays (see below).
While I was waiting at the dock that day, the boat arrived right on schedule, and after docking, only five people got out from the boat…
including tourists from overseas.
And I was the only one on board.
Thanks to this, I could talk to a handsome crew member, who told me that there had been quite many passengers on the previous day, which was a holiday.
(I remember walking along the other side in Dec, and it was a Saturday, so there were quite a lot people on the pier. I happened to have some photos of the boats there, so I’ve attached them. Hmm, I don’t really want to get on that boat even on sunny day.)
Soon, while I was enjoying the sea breeze all to myself on the deck, the boat was approaching to the other side.
I could carefully observe the steering technique of the pilot from near the cockpit as it docked, and even though it was only 10 minutes, the strait cruise felt very relaxed and leisurely!
I got off the boat feeling like I’d really gotten a bargain.

P.S.: By the way, the weekdays I recommend are any day other than Wednesday and Friday. However, if you want to enjoy the sushi at the market, maybe Friday is the best day to go, even if you have to endure the crowds? Actually, there’s another reason for this, which I’ll talk about later.

ふたつ目の条件
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
１０分間の海峡クルーズをリーズナブルな気分で満喫するための条件として、
前回「お天気」をあげましたが、実はもうひとつ条件があるんです。
それは、、、
ウィークデー、それも午後！
こちら側の港町も対岸の魚市場も週末のスポットだということは、地元の人間なら誰もが知っている常識。
そんな週末にわざわざ人混みに向かって出かけなくても、、、というのが基本人混み嫌いな宿主の基本的な考え方。
平日だと、こんなメリット（以下参照）があるんです。
この日船着場で待っていると、定刻通りに船が入ってきて、着岸後に下船してきたのは、、、
海外からの観光客を含めて５人だけ。
そして、乗船したのは、、、自分ただ一人。
おかげでイケメン乗組員とも話が出来たりして、それによると前日の休日には結構乗客がいたそうです。
（昨年末に対岸を散歩した時は土曜日で結構桟橋に人がいたことを思い出しました。たまたまその時の船の様子が画像に残っていたので添付しておきます。う〜ん、晴れた日でもこれには乗りたくないなぁ。）
という具合に、デッキで潮風を独り占めしているとほどなく対岸に近づいてきました。
操縦室のそばで着岸の舵捌きをじっくり観察することもできて、たった１０分なのに、すごくゆったりのんびり感じられた海峡クルーズは終了！
なんか本当に得した気分で下船できました。

追記：ちなみに平日でも特におすすめは水金以外、ただ市場のお寿司を楽しみたい人は多少の人混みを我慢して金曜日でしょうか？実はこれには別の意味もあって、それについてはまた後ほど。
