Guesthouse healing broken heart!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Since COVID-19 pandemic, we have kept running our business hosting mainly repeat guests. We did appreciate them very much.

In such situation, we had hosted one repeat guest again this week.

We heard that she broke up last week and she made a reservation immediately to refresh her mind from a broken heart. We thank her to utilize this guesthouse for such purpose.

“If you feel sad, you can cry here and we have ‘sterilized tissue’ to wipe off your tears.
We also have ‘gentle view’ which will wrap your broken heart softly. ♫”

We hope that Guesthouse TOUKA will heal various feeling of our guests from now on.

失恋ゲストハウス！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

コロナ以降、ご多分に漏れず当宿もゲスト数は激減。ありがたくもリピーターゲストのご利用を中心に営業を続けています。

そんな状況下、今週もまたリピーターさんにご利用いただきました。

聞けば、先週失恋して落ち込んだ気分を転換したくて予約しましたとのこと、、、この宿をそんな風に利用していただけるなんて、本当にありがたいと感じました。

悲しけりゃここでお泣きよ、涙ふく「除菌ティッシュ」もあるし ♫
愛がこわした君の心をやさしく包む「景色」もある ♫
（↑昭和の人間なら分かるかな。笑）

これからもゲストのいろんな気持ちを癒やしていけたらなぁ、とあらためて感じました。

P.S. 宿主は今度から「マスター」って呼んでもらおっかな。で、健太郎カットにしなきゃ（笑）

予期できる事態 / Expectable situation

Expectable situation

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

In recent several years, it has been on a kind of trend that leaders use unexpected situation as their excuse in both political and economical world in Japan. But such excuses don’t work for us, the people who may suffer serious damage.

So we decided to utilize “Hazard Map” published by our local government with spending about 14million JPY.

We got some hazard maps which cover the areas where our guests may visit during staying here.

At first, we fount that “Mojiko Retro Area”, the most popular spot, will be submerged completely.

Specially, we are surprised at that evacuation sites in the area doesn’t function in water hazard condition. Not only evacuation sites in the Retro Area, but also those in mountain side of route #3 won’t work in emergency.

Because there are a few tall buildings in the area and even they also have a risk of isolation by the water, we think that we should advice our guests in retro area to evacuate to the south of Mojiko station, the area around the city hall. From the area, they may be able to walk back to this guesthouse.

予期できる事態

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

ここ数年の日本の政治や、経済界では誰かが予想した状況が起きても、「予期できない事態」だったという言い訳するのが流行っていますが、致命的な被害を被る可能性のある国民目線ではそんな言い訳は通用しません。

というわけで、1,400万円もかけて自治体が製作した「ハザードマップ」を宿として最大限活用することにしました。

これまでのゲストさんたちの話から、彼らが立ち寄る可能性のあるスポットについて「ハザードマップ」を取り寄せました。

まず観光で一番立ち寄る可能性のある「門司港レトロ地区」。残念ながら、ここは完全に水没するようです。

さらに特筆すべきは、高潮時には地区内の「避難場所」は機能しないと予測されていることです。市街地では国道三号線のさらに山手になる「避難場所」も水没して避難不可になるようです。

レトロ地区には高層の建物が少ないことや、高層の建物も孤立するリスクが高いことから、ゲストには万が一の際には駅の南手、区役所方面に避難するようにアドバイスしようと考えます。そこからであれば、宿まで徒歩で戻ってこれることもハザードマップから読み取れました。

海辺にて / Al Mare

Al Mare

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

It is not bad staying in a guesthouse and doing nothing, only watching calm sea and ships, I thought on Sunday.

But the sea is not always calm and the nature is not always gentle to human beings.

We got this brochure by post mail in this month.

We recognized that we have to take care for such risks as residents near the sea.

Fortunately with this information, we understand that this guesthouse will be OK even in case of water hazard and we already prepared ourselves to survive more than several days even in isolation. We cannot reach to the supermarket we always use, because it will be in the water. But we found that both my parents house and another supermarket near by are dry and accessible on foot or by bicycle or kick board, using minor road.

There may be a low probability of such severe water hazards occurring. However we will be OUT without any preparation on both material and mental.

So we will prepare wisely with using this information for our guests’ and our safety and security.

海辺にて

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

海の見える宿から穏やかな海をぼんやり眺める休日も悪くないなぁ、と日曜の朝から海峡ライフを満喫しました。

けれども自然はいつも人に対して穏やかな顔をみせるとは限りません。

今月、こんな一枚が郵便受けに届いていました。

海のそばで営業するということは、こんなことも意識しておかなくてはならないんだなぁと再認識しました。

幸い、高台にある当宿には直接の被害が生じるリスクは低く、ライフラインもなんとか数日は確保できる備えです。食料品はいつものスーパーは水没しそうで車も出せそうにありませんが、水没を免れる実家とそのそばにあるお店には裏道を使って徒歩・自転車、もしくはキックボードでアクセスできそうだということがこの情報で分かりました。

実際に起こる確率は低いかもしれませんが、万が一にでも起こって、もしも備えも心構えもなければ、Ｏ・Ｕ・Ｔ アウトです。

今回入手した情報を活かして、スタッフとゲストの安心・安全のためにさらにしっかり準備する所存です。
