Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
In the previous article, I mentioned Kanmon Bridge.
Actually, from a resident’s perspective, we feel that the connecting situation between Honshu and Kyushu by car is quite risky.
Currently, if we want to cross the strait we look down below by car, there are basically two ways to do it.
We can either use the Kanmon Bridge introduced earlier, or you can use the Kanmon Tunnel.
Of particular concern is the Kanmon Tunnel, which opened in 1958 before the host was born.
The degree of fatigue is obvious when you actually use it.
When I lived here as a student, I remember that the walls were covered in bright tiles, but now they are black, unpainted walls that give the impression of a haunted spot.
The fact that there is only one lane on each side also causes traffic congestion.
On the other hand, Kanmon Bridge is also currently undergoing renovation work.
Recently, various parts of Japan have been hit by unprecedented natural disasters, and we feel that bridges and the surrounding environment are not in a stable condition.
These days I sincerely hope that Kyushu will not become a large, isolated island. Even though we can see the opposite shore right in front of us.

地域リスク
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
前回の記事の中で、関門橋について言及しましたが、、、
実は住民目線でみて、車での本州・九州間の連絡状況はかなりリスキーな状況だと実感しています。
現在、眼下の海峡を車で渡ろうとすると、その方法は基本的に二つ。
先に紹介した関門橋を利用するか、もしくは関門トンネルを利用するかです。
特に危惧されるのが、宿主の生まれる前の1958年に開通した関門トンネル。
その疲弊度は実際に利用してみると一目瞭然です。
学生の頃、この地元にいた頃の記憶では、その壁面は明るいタイルに覆われていましたが、今やどこか心霊スポットのようにすら感じる黒い打ちっぱなしの壁です。片側１車線しかないのも、渋滞の元になっています。
対して、関門橋の方も現在改修工事が進められています。
昨今日本各地で想定したことのない自然災害に見舞われていることもあり、橋とその周辺環境は決して磐石な状態とはいえないように思います。
ここ九州が大きな陸の孤島にならないことを切に願う今日この頃です。対岸はすぐ目の前なのに、、、
