Unfairness in Japan tourism

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

There is one concern of our manager, who dislike/hate anything unfair in this world.

In this year-end and new year, we have guests from various places. So the new year is filled with gratitude for staying with us.

Though our style of choosing topics to talk with our guests are to pick most interesting theme of each guest,

there is one common topic for all guests, which is about “Traveling”.

These days, we have many chances that our guests have showed their ticket to travel in Japan.

These are special discounted tickets only for tourists from foreign countries. 

And as you can see, they are super cheap.

Yes, I know that JR raised the price of them in October, last year. But still too cheap.

We have guests from both inland Japan and overseas and, as a recent trend, we feel more young foreign tourists travel Japan more than young Japanese people.

From my perspective looking at both sides, I can’t help but feel that it’s very unfair.

And yet, the current management style of JR companies is to reduce the number of conventional lines to improve finances every time they revise their timetables.

This situation is similar to a restaurants that do not treat their “regular customers” with respect.

But the tricky thing is that most of regular customers don’t know JRs provide super discount to chance customers.

Of course, the fate of such restaurants is always closure and withdrawal from business.

To be honest, in this day and age, even if these tickets are 50% more expensive, foreign tourists will definitely buy them because of the value of tourism going around this country.

日本観光における不公平

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

世の中でフェアでないこと、不公平なことを忌み嫌う宿主が危惧していることがひとつ。

この年末年始も色々な国からのゲストさんたちにご利用いただき感謝の気持ちでいっぱいの年明けです。

ゲストさんそれぞれの興味に合わせて話題を変え会話を楽しむのが当宿のスタイルですが、

当然ながら、どのゲストさんとも共通の話題は、、、「旅」について。

ここのところ、ゲストさんたちからよくこうした切符を見せてもらいます。

外国人向けのパスなんですが、見てわかる通り、異様に安いんです。

いえいえ知っています。これらのパスの価格は昨年の１０月に値上げされていますよね。

でも、それでも、安すぎるんです。

当宿には日本の若者・海外の若者それぞれいらっしゃいますが、最近の傾向として、ガイジンの若者の方がよっぽど日本国内をたびしているようです。

両方を見ている立場からすると、なんかすごく不公平に思えて仕方ありません。

それでいて、ダイヤ改正のたびに経営改善のため在来線の本数を減らすのが今のJR各社の経営スタイル。

なんだかその姿は「常連客」を大切に扱わない飲食店の姿に似ています。

それでてトリキーなのは、常連客自体が一見さんに超安値で提供されていることをあまり知らされていないこと！

もちろん、そんな飲食店のゆく末は、決まって閉店・事業撤退です。

はっきり言うと、このご時世、こうした切符は値段もう５０％増しでも、日本の観光価値から外国人観光客は間違いなく購入します。
