Becoming Moles?
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
The Japanese has been covered by the Pacific high pressure system this week, meaning blue skies were visible in the Kanmon area on Friday as well.
With no clouds in the sky, the sun and heat have been relentless.
Normally, this weather would be called “fine weather,” but with this heat, we can’t help but think that it might actually be “bad weather.”
Turning on the air conditioner would just raise the outside temperature and would not contribute anything to the environment, in fact it would make it worse, so after I finished cleaning, I turned off the air conditioner and went out at the hottest afternoon.
The water temperature is 33 degree C. It’s not cold enough to feel comfortable, but it’s a recommended spot to escape the heat because we won’t have to worry about sweating.
As I sat by the pool feeling the scorching sun, I wondered what would happen to the Earth without happening of any drastic change/improvement.
This brought to mind the Earth described in an Anime Space Battleship Yamato,” by a manga artist with ties to this city. “The oceans evaporate and the Earth turns reddish brown, and humans build underground cities to live in.” In the Anime, the reason for this is radioactive contamination, but global warming could also be the reason for this future.
I am seriously worried that if we continue living like this, our grandchildren’s generation will not be able to live on earth.
It seems that this country thinks that just by separating garbage and not using plastic bags, they are becoming a green, advanced nation, but I don’t think that what they are doing now will improve the environment.
For example, issue of the carbon dioxide contained in the exhaust gases from gasoline-powered vehicles. As a nation based on automobiles, it is difficult to regulate this, but is Japan seriously considering environmental measures not only for the cars that run within the country, but also for the countries to which it exports?
Automobile makers must be responsible not only for new car exports but also for used car exports.
I wonder if it’s really okay to just export gasoline-powered vehicles in large quantities just because reciprocal tariffs deal was agreed with U.S. this week.
It may be a good time to reflect on why this country has received the “Fossil of the Day” award so many times. I feel that if we continue to contribute to the consumption of fossil fuels as we have done up until now, relieved that there are no foreigners hopping on planes to travel all over Japan to complain about it, we will reach an irreversible point.
By the way, who is the current Minister of the Environment in Japan? Is he even doing his job?

未来はモグラ？！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
今週の日本列島は太平洋高気圧に被われているせいで、関門エリアでは金曜も青空が広がりました。
上空に雲がないことで、空からは容赦ない日差しと猛暑が降り注いできます。
通常であれば、この天気を「好天」と呼ぶのでしょうが、この暑さに実はこれって「荒天」なのではと思えて仕方ありません。
クーラーをつけても、外気温を上げるだけで環境的には何も貢献しないどころか悪化させるので、掃除を終えた頃、一番暑くなる時間にクーラーを切って出かけてみました。
水温は33度。冷たくて気持ちいいという感じはありませんが、汗をかくのが気にならない点で、オススメの避暑スポットです。
そんなプールサイドでジリジリと焼けつく日差しを感じながら考えました。このままこれが続くとこの地球はどうなるんだろう、、と。
そこで思いついたのは、この街ゆかりの漫画家の作品「宇宙戦艦ヤマト」の中に描かれる地球。「海は蒸発して地球は赤茶けた姿に変貌し、人類は地下都市を建設してそこで生活する。」その理由は漫画の中では放射能汚染ですが、温暖化が理由でもあり得そうな地球の未来です。
このままの生活を続けていくと、孫の世代には地上では住めなくなるのではと本気で心配です。
この国ではゴミを分別してレジ袋を使わないだけで、なんかグリーン先進国と思っている節がありますが、今やっていることだけで、この環境が改善するとはとても思えません。
例えば、ガソリン車の排気ガスと含まれる二酸化炭素。自動車立国のためそこにメスが入ることはなかなかありませんが、国内を走行している車の分だけでなく、輸出している先での環境対策まで本気で日本は考えているでしょうか？
新車輸出だけでなく中古車輸出分についても責任があるでしょう。
相互関税が半額に抑えられたからと、ガソリン車をジャンジャン輸出するだけで良いのか疑問に思います。
なぜこの国が何度も化石賞”(Fossil of the Day” award) を受賞しているのか、冷静に考えてみる良いタイミングかもしれません。飛行機に乗ってわざわざ文句を言いにくるガイジンがいないことに、あぐらをかいてこれまで通り化石燃料の消費にばかり貢献していては取り返しのつかないことになるような気がします。
ところで、今の日本の環境大臣って誰？仕事してるのかな？

P.S. 宇宙戦艦ヤマトの艦長「沖田十三」が、自分より８歳も若いことに少なからずショックを受けています。
