Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
TOUKA is a guesthouse locating on a hill, from where we “CAN SEE” the four seasons go by.
We can see each season around trees, temperature of course even in the wind.
The strongest one which make us feel the season is …
“The Sun”
During hot summer, together with guests, we see the sunset just in front of strait view window of guest room.
However sun is setting out of the flame of the windows.
Where does it go?
It goes more south behind the apartment building where we cannot see from TOUKA.
Sun in December set with bright light at the foot of Mt. Sarakura, highest mountain in the city of Kitakyushu.
We can see the sunset from the light house next to TOUKA, and it gives us a breath taking moment.
This is my first winter since the opening of TOUKA. And difference of sunset between summer and winter is giving me big surprises.
In Kanmon area, we can feel difference of sunset in four seasons.
With seeing such a beautiful sunset, I am recognizing the beauty of Japan which have clear four seasons. (If you can feel deep autumn in the picture above, you are the master of Japanese culture.)

自然とともに、お日さまとともに、、、
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
高台にあって海峡を見下ろす「灯火」は季節の移り変わりが「見てわかる」宿です。
木々や気温はもちろん、風にも季節を感じます。
なかでも一番季節を感じさせるのは、、、
そう「お日さま」です。
夏の暑い日、ゲストさん達と海峡正面に見ていた夕陽は今やフレームの外です。
ではいったいどこに沈んでいるかというと、
遥か南側の「灯火」からは直接見えないマンションの影。
北九州の最高峰「皿倉山」の麓に鮮やかな光を放ちながら沈んでいます。
「灯火」のすぐ上にある灯台のたもとに行くとその様子がよく見えます。
そして、その美しさに心奪われます。
「灯火」として初めての冬を目前にして、この日没位置の違いには驚きです。
夕陽の見え方も四季それぞれで異なることを感じる関門。
こんな景色を望みながら、四季が移り変わる日本の美しさを再認識している今日この頃です。
