The way to enjoy living, I learned from TOHOKU!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Since last week, we have been doing pretty busy.

Between working and surfing, I have greeting/communicating with old friends, acquaintances and our guests who have stayed here.

Among those people, people living Tohoku area, Japan, called me and that made me very very happy. One of them is old lady who survived from Tsunami attack. (She had once drown in dirty Tsunami water.) She taught me that she turned 90 this year after various hard time struggling to live in the area.

I did learn very important/useful method from their way of living/surviving.

“To turn misfortune into fortune”

In addition, I also got many massages from the people who is fighting against control by the country of communism, young people in neighbor country whose government got conflict with our government, and so on. Their dear messages have brought happy and warm feeling to me and I’ve been spending Christmas/late December days at my favorite spot with smile.

東北に教わった生き方？

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

先週から何故か結構バタバタしています。

仕事と波乗りの合間に旧友、知り合い、これまで利用いただいたゲストさんなど多くの人とやり取りしています。

なかでも特に嬉しかったのは、東北の震災被災地からいただいた何本かの電話。みなさん元気にされているそうで、そのうちのお一人は津波に飲み込まれながら救出されたMばあちゃん。いろいろと大変されながらも、なんと今年90歳になったそうです。

そんな風に東北で出会った人に教わった生き方は、今を生きる糧になっています。

“災い転じて福となす”

共産主義からの支配に対抗しようとしている地域の人たちや、この国と政府間で衝突している隣国の若者たちからも、懐かしくてうれしいメッセージが続々と届き、笑顔の師走・クリスマスをお気に入りの場所で過ごしています。

No time for hanging around!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

One culture which this town is proud of is

“KAKUUCHI” culture, which is standing bar in liquor shop, and this town seems to be the birth place of “KAKUUCHI”.

In my memory, there were many drunken people came around liquor shops in my neighborhood and teased children coming back from their schools. So we could not have good image about KAKUUCHI. However recently not only guidebook but also local government and local TV stations are making special programs to promote KAKUUCHI culture. That surprise us very much.

When I left the home town and stayed in Tokyo, I visited one liquor ship in Ginza, which was reported in my favorite TV program and I have wanted to visit there someday. What interested me is:

“Paid Tasting”
There are hundreds kinds of liquors in the shop and we can taste most of them 10ml by paying a small amount money. That system allowed me to try several kinds of scotch which I have been interested for a long time and I could find my new favorite brand by that.

Old style standing bar KAKUUCHI may go to ruin together with smokers and drunkard in next decade. Building new style by being flexible in timely manner keeping basic essence is very important I think.

P.S. There is a branch shop of same liquor shop group in this town but no paid tasting system here. Paid tasting is only available in the Ginza shop. We do hope development and arrangement of local traditional culture.

うかうかしてられない？

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

この街が自慢するもの、、、

それは酒屋が営む「角打ち」文化。なんでも発祥の地らしいのです。

子供の頃は酒臭いオヤジ達が酒屋のまわりにたむろしてて、酔っぱらいが通学途中の子供をからかったり、まったく良いイメージがありませんでした。ところが、今ではなんとガイドブックのみならず、自治体や地域の報道機関も特集するほどの熱の入れようで、驚くばかりです。

そんな地元を離れ、東京に行った際に、気になる銀座の酒屋を訪ねてみました。テレビで放映されて一度行ってみたいと感じたお店です。なにが気になっていたかというと、、、

「有料試飲」
店内何百とある洋酒をメインに100円単位の小額で10mlの試し飲みが出来るというシステム。一度飲んでみたかったあのお酒が試飲できるというわけです。おかげであらたなお気に入りの銘柄を見つけることが出来ました。

さびれた酒屋の立ち呑み文化もうかうかしてると、タバコの飲みや町の酔っぱらいと一緒にあっという間に絶滅危惧種と化してしまう予感がします。基本はまもりながら新しいかたちのサービスが求められている気がしてなりません。

P.S. 北九州にも同系列店はあるようですが、有料試飲は銀座でのみのサービスのようです。ローカルな立ち呑み文化もいろんなスタイルに派生・進化すると良いですね。

嗚呼、大東京！〜 毎日がパレード / Ah, big city, Tokyo! Parade everyday

Ah, big city, Tokyo! Parade everyday

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

In the previous article, I focused in the parade of rugby team Japan who has reached the quarterfinals of the World Cup Games. However there are bigger parades everyday in the big city Tokyo,

which are “Black Parade”.

They are all in black. Furthermore their head/hair are black too. They make such black parades every morning. (They can be called as “All Blacks”)

Tourists may not be able to see them often (because time zone is different between tourists and business men). However I bet that travelers from western countries will be surprised very much, when they see this parade. Rugby parade and black parade are same parade, but there is a big difference.

It is that there is “No Smile” in black parade.
(All members in black parade are “men without smile”.)

I cannot stand such Tokyo and I came back to my hometown where I can enjoy sea/strait view everyday.

I prefer this morning commute than black parade.

I think that I am making big smile, when I find beautiful waves beyond the curve.

嗚呼、大東京！〜 毎日がパレード

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

大都会東京、先の記事でラグビー日本代表のベストエイト祝勝パレードのことを取り上げましたが、東京ではもっと大規模なパレードが毎日行われています。

ブラックパレード、、、

着ているものすべてが黒系で、そのうえ頭（髪）まで黒いので、真っ黒な行列です。（ある意味、オールブラックス！）

観光客がこの光景を見る機会は少ないかもしれません。もし欧米系の旅行客がこれを見たらきっと違和感を感じるに違いありません。同じパレードでも、ラグビーのパレードとの一番の違い、、、

そこに笑顔のないこと。
（こちらのパレードは全員が「笑わない男」！）

そんな東京に耐えられず、毎日海を見て過ごせる関門に戻ってきました。

朝の通勤もこっちの方が断然お気に入り。
