Wishing upon Angels!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

A topic that often comes up in conversation with our weekend guests is…

Saturday Night Angels!

Apparently they’re running on Fridays and Sundays too…

Anyway, when we’re chatting in the dining room of this guesthouse, we often  hear them from afar.

In a straight line from here, it is 130m to National Route #3 and 280m to National Route #199, which runs along the coast, so it is not noisy at all and sounds like just a lullaby.

When we listen to it, I think, “Wow, they’re really working/running hard.”

Guests who are fans of the manga and anime “Tokyo Reven…” want to go see them all the way to the national road, but since they don’t seem to be big group like they used to be, our guests won’t make it in time even if they run, and there’s no telling when the next angels will come, so I always advise them not to go.

I feel like the chances of encountering angels are now rarer than seeing a total lunar eclipse.

We sometimes see them parked like this in the parking lot of a store…

We hope that the preannounced run will satisfy the interest of inbound guests.

Because it’s so Kitakyushu!

Many guests say they would like to see “Saturday Night Angels” the next time they will come.

天使に会いに！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

週末いらっしゃるゲストさんとの話題によく出てくるのが、、、

土曜の夜の天使！

金曜や日曜にもいるようですが、、、

当宿のダイニングでおしゃべりしていると、遠くで聞こえるんです。

ここから直線距離で、国道三号線まで130m、海岸通りの国道199号線まで280mあるので、全然うるさくはなくて子守唄程度にしか聞こえません。

あ〜、がんばってんなぁ、っていう感じです。

漫画・アニメ「東京リベ・・・・・」ファンのゲストさんは国道まで見に行きたがるのですが、昔のような大世帯ではないようなので、走って行っても間に合わないし、次が来るかどうかも分からないので、やめといた方がよいと諌めています。

天使たちに遭遇できる確率は、今や皆既月食を見るより希少価値があるような気がします。

たまにこんなふうにお店の駐車場に停まっているのを見かけることはあるんですが、、、

是非とも、予告走行でインバウンド・ゲストさん達の興味を満たして欲しいところです。

だって、いかにも北九州らしいから！

次来る時は「土曜の夜の天使」を見てみたいというゲストさん少なくないですよ。

Before it become too late…

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Before we knew it, we are already in the last week of February 2026.

Almost two months have already passed this year.

So, looking back at February…

Huh? Huh? What happened to that???

That is the Oyster Festival, which has been held in our port town for 17 years.

It seems that the event has been cancelled this year and ever.

They use the same flyer layout every year, and I thought it was an event that they were sure to attract customers, so they didn’t bother to actively promote it…

It’s very disappointing considering the event has been held for 17 years (although it was cancelled due to COVID-19 certain period of time.

We had introduced this event to our guests, and they enjoyed it. During the event, they would come back to this guesthouse smelling smoky…

Following the New Year’s countdown fireworks, the Oyster Festival has also been cancelled. 

Perhaps next up will be a summer fireworks festival?!

(The summer fireworks festival is the largest in this region and is sure to draw large crowds, but looking at recent events, we can’t help but feel like something dark is looming.)

Our port town, Mojiko, is bustling with tourism, I thought, but it seems there are actually problems and risks.

This guesthouse has always taken measures and prepared for busy periods for each event, but now it may be that the stage is changing to one where we can compete based on the inherent charms of the region and the guesthouse without events.

手遅れになる前に、、、

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

2026年の2月も気がついたら最終週。

本年ももう２ヶ月が過ぎるんですね。

と、ここで2月を振り返ると、、、

あれ？あれって？？？

なんのことかといえば、、、我が港町で十数年開催され続けてきた「牡蠣まつり」！

なんと今年からイベントがなくなったみたいです。

毎年同じレイアウトのチラシで、集客確実だからあえて積極的に売り込む気もないイベントだと思っていたんですが、、、

１７年もの開催実績（途中、コロナで中止もありましたが）が残念です。

結構、ウチのゲストさんにも紹介して楽しまれていて、煙くさくなって宿に戻ってきていたのに、、、

ニューイヤーのカウントダウン花火に続いて、牡蠣まつりもなくなってしまいました。

次は、もしや夏の花火大会？！

（夏の花火大会も地域最大規模にして集客確実のイベントですが、最近のイベントごとを見ていると、なんか暗雲を感じずにはいれません）

わが港町「門司港」、、、観光で活気づいているのかと思っていましたが、実のところは課題やリスクありそうです。

当宿ではイベントごとに繁忙対策・準備していたのですが、いまや地域と宿とが持つ本来の魅力で勝負するステージに変わってきているのかもしれません。

For what? For this!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

The host of this guesthouse “TOUKA”actively researches/visits good and interesting restaurants/bars around west half of Japan.

This time, host’s favorite TV show inspired him to explore a small, cozy diner located close to home on the other side of the strait, just a TORII gate.

So, why is he looking for such a delicious and reasonably priced restaurants/bars?

It’s not that he is looking for a nice restaurant that he can secretly visit multiple times and have all to himself.

Here’s why (please refer to next image)!

He is preparing to recommend restaurants/bars to our young guests who stay at this guesthouse that they would not come across in a guidebook or on social media, but that they will surely remember if they visit.

Well, of course he enjoyed it himself, but…

We run a sharing business in the smallest guesthouse in Japan, but we don’t just share beds/Futons, sleeping spaces.

Our style is to share information about anything that the host feels is good from the bottom of his heart.

Of course, when recommending a restaurant or something, we don’t provide the same information to everyone.

By actually talking to our guests, the host can subtly get a sense of their personality and the route they will take, and then give them advice on the places, things, and people that are perfect for them.

As a result, when the host receive a feedback filled with joy like the one above…

“Wow, what a great job!” the host thinks and his heart sparkles.

何のため？ このためでしょ！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

関東以西のいいお店、興味深いお店を積極的に巡っているのが、当宿「灯火」の宿主です。

今回はお気に入りの番組きっかけで、身近なところで海峡の対岸にある、鳥居を潜ってすぐのところにあるちいさな居心地のよいお店を探索することが出来ました。

で、なんでこうした「旨くて、お手頃価格のお店」を探しているのかというと、、、

こっそり何度も通える独り占めできるイイ店探ししてる、、、ワケではないんです。

その理由が、こちら（次の画像）！

当宿をご利用いただく若い世代のゲストさんに、ガイドブックやネット情報では巡り合うことのない、でも「もし行ったら、きっと思い出に残るお店」をオススメできるように準備しているんです。

まぁ、もちろん自分自身が楽しいのもあるんですが、、、

国内最小規模のゲストハウスでシェアリング・ビジネスを営んでいるワケですが、シェアしているのは寝床だけではありません。

宿主が心から良いと感じるあらゆるものを情報としてシェアする、というのが当宿のスタイルです。

もちろん、お店などをオススメする際には、誰にでも同じ情報を提供するわけではありません。

実際にゲストさんとお話しすることで、ご性格や今回の旅のルートなどをさりげなく読み取って、この人ならココっていう場所・モノ・人をアドバイスします。

その結果、先のようなよろこびのフィードバックが届いたりすると、、、

あぁ、なんて、いい仕事だぁ〜！
