It seems that a single comment from the Prime Minister has caused a sharp decline in tourists from a certain country…

I learned something while talking to a guest traveler from that certain country.

Apparently, you can watch as many Japanese dramas and subculture content as you want there.

The conversation started with her talking about how much she loves Japanese culture, and then turned to her favorite actors and actresses. As the conversation progressed, I realized that despite being only 22 years old, she knew more about older morning dramas and historical dramas than I do. When I asked her how she knew so much…

She prefaced her remarks by saying, “I think it’s probably illegal,” but then told me “it’s now possible to watch any morning drama or historical drama you like in her country.”

Well, Japanese people also need to be aware that they are dealing with such a country.

I remember when I went on a business trip to Guangzhou about 20 years ago, the taxi driver arranged by the other company took me to the Knockoff Market and told me that this street was third-rate even for Knockoff goods, while that one was for the first-rate Knockoff.

However, it would be annoying to have our intellectual property stolen so easily, so perhaps it would be a good idea to secretly incorporate programs for democratic education and the overthrow of dictatorial regimes into the drama and anime videos.

Well, in the case of our guest, she had already fallen in love with Japan culture without having to do anything like that…

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

首相のひと言が原因で、とある国からの観光客が激減しているようですが、、、

その とある国からの旅人と話していて分かったことがあります。

そこでは、日本のドラマやサブカルチャが見放題とのこと。

日本の文化が大好きだという話題から、どの俳優・女優が好きかという話になって、会話が進むにつれて齡（よわい）二十二にして、自分よりも昔の朝ドラや大河ドラマのことに詳しいことが分かり、どうしてそんなに知ってるのって聞いたら、、、

「多分、非合法だと思うけど、、」と前置きした上で、かの国では朝ドラや大河ドラマは好きなのをどれでも見れるようになっていると教えてくれました。

まぁ、日本人もそういう国を相手にしているとあらためて認識しないといけませんね。

２０年ほど前に広州に出張した時に、先方の会社が手配してくれたタクシーの運転手が、ばったもん市場に連れて行ってくれて、この通りはばったもんでも三流、あっちの通りは一流と教えてくれたことを思い出しました。

しかしながら、ここで知的財産をいいように盗まれるのも癪だから、アニメにこっそり民主主義教育・独裁政権打倒のプログラムでも仕込んでしまうのがよいかもしれませんね。

まぁ、ゲストさんの場合は、そんなことしなくてもすでに日本大好きになっていましたけれど、、、

それでは、国家と自分個人とを見つめ直す素敵な一日を！

P.S. ここ数年、やれ国家だとか、宗教だとか言っているから衝突・紛争・戦争が起きているとしか思えないのは自分だけでしょうか？

During my recent trip to Nagasaki and visiting the hidden Christian heritage sites, I was struck by the history and culture of this country, which rejects, restricts, and oppresses anything that comes from the outside.

In a word, it may come from the “island nature” of this country.

And right now, the Diet is deliberating how to deal with foreigners coming to this country (both tourists and immigrants).

If possible, I hope that it will become a familiar presence in this country, like Christmas is today, without creating a tragic history like the spread of Christianity in Japan.

I think we should just “pick the best of both worlds” (like celebrating Christmas and Valentine’s Day but not Easter) as we have done in the past, but what do you think?

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

今回の長崎旅、潜伏キリシタン関連遺産を巡ってみて強く感じたのは、、、外から来るものを拒絶・制限・弾圧するこの国の歴史・風土。

ひと言でいうなら、この国の「島国体質」なのかもしれません。

そして今まさにこの国にやってくる外国人（旅行・移住ともに）への対応が国会で審議されています。

出来ることなら日本におけるキリスト教布教のような悲しい歴史を作ることなく、現在のクリスマスのようにうまく馴染み、この国に根付いて欲しいですね。

これまでそうだったように、「いいとこ取り（クリスマスやバレンタイン・デーは取るが、イースターは取らないみたいな）」すればいいだけだと思うのですがどうでしょうか？

それでは、上手に取捨選択して素敵な一日を！

I was full of anticipation when I visited the Atomic Bomb Museum, but I was overwhelmed by the large number of tourists even before I entered…

But actually, even so, the situation may not have been so bad.

That’s because I was able to find the exhibits and information I was looking for, 

and even though it was crowded, it was mostly just school trip students in uniforms and Westerners who were probably on bus tours from luxury cruise ships.

I checked the port information site I mentioned earlier and looked at the ships that had docked the day before and departed the night before, and it seemed that the museum had been crowded with people of different races the day before, so I thought that the situation was probably better on the day I visited.

Therefore, when sightseeing in this port town, we strongly recommend that you check the weather forecast as well as information about large cruiser boats docked at the port in advance.

(The situation is probably the same for Hiroshima Tourism, which has a similar museum to this port city.)

However, future port calls from the country may be significantly reduced due to the ugly spat between the two governments that has been making headlines this week.

But, according to solo travelers from that country who stayed at our guesthouse last week…

The information being reported in that country and communicated to the public seems to be quite different from what is being reported in Japan, so it seems likely that people will continue to flock there in large numbers.

ガイドブックや旅行ブログにも書いてない大事な旅のコツ

今回、期待いっぱいで訪れた原爆資料館では、入館前から大勢の観光客に圧倒されましたが、、、

実はそれでも状況は悪くなかったのかもしれません。

それというのも、目当ての展示品や情報はしっかり得られたし、

混雑していると言っても、制服の修学旅行生や大型クルーズ船からバスツアーで訪れたであろう欧米人で賑わっていただけだったから。

先に紹介した港湾情報サイトを確認し、前日停泊し前夜に出航した船を見てみると、そこから前日は違う人種で混雑していたであろうことが伺えたので、むしろ自分が訪ねた日の方が状況は良かったのだろうと思えました。

というわけで、こちらの港町を観光する際には、天気予報と同様に港に停泊する観光船情報も事前にチェックしておくことを強くお勧めします。

（おそらくこちらの港町と同様の資料館を有する広島観光についても状況は同じです。）

とはいえ今週ニュースを騒がしている両国政府間の醜い言い合いのせいで、彼の国からの今後の寄港は大幅に減るのかもしれません。

でも、先週当宿を利用されたかの国からのひとり旅ゲストさんたちによれば、、、、

かの国で報道されて国民に対して伝わっている内容は、日本で報道されている内容とはかなり違うようなので、これからも相変わらず大勢で押し寄せてくるのかもしれません。
