Daytime BGM and concern of this guesthouse
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
In these several weeks, BGM of this guesthouse in daytime has been
“Live broadcasts of parliamentary proceedings”.
We have quite less guests because of COVID19 pandemic and even before pandemic we haven’t had guest in this building during daytime between check-out of previous guests and check-in of next guests. Since COVID19, we have concern government’s measure and remedial for damaged industries like us very much. So we have kept listening to live broadcasts of parliamentary proceedings.
With listening it, we start having come worries about planning measure of our government.
One of them is about their plan to strengthen supply chain for sanitary merchandisings.
About this time last year, most of Japanese people had been struggling for disposable face masks.
Now government is considering effective measures for future epidemic but they are thinking about supplying side mainly.
But actually, the first people who try to corner face masks in Japan were not Japanese people but the tourists from China.
Although our guests are sophisticated people even Chinese guests, their friends and relatives asked them to buy and bring masks to China as much as they can.
At the time most of Japanese people started to buy masks, the shelves were already empty. If tourists from China didn’t buy them all at the first period, we might not have such a critical shortage last year. So strengthen supply chain only supply side cannot not be enough for Japanese consumers.
Possibility of next epidemic will start from China is very high and there are minor Japanese buyer without moral. So controlling demand side is also necessary as well as strengthen supply side.
We are expecting our government to consider/analyze such people’s movement, purchasing psychology and actual phenomenon we saw last year.

当宿の日中のBGMと懸念
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
ここ数週間、当宿の日中のBGMは、、、
「（日本の）国会中継」
新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大以来の利用者減少もありますが、以前より昼間の時間は前泊ゲストと当日ゲストの狭間にあたり館内にゲストがいない時間です。政府の発表する感染対策や救済措置が気になることもあって、ここのところ昼間は国会中継を聞きながら作業していることが多くなっています。
そんな国会審議を聞きながら、政府の対応について、灯火らしい懸念が湧き上がります。
それは衛生関連商品のサプライチェーンの強靭化について。
ちょうど昨年の今頃、巷では使い捨てマスクの欠品で入手困難な状態が続いていました。
そうならないように対応策を検討しているのですが、話題に登るのは供給体制強化の話。
でもあの頃、最初にマスクを買い占めたのは、、、日本人ではなく中国人観光客。
当宿のゲストは中国人でも品のある人が多いので、ご本人は荷物になるのを嫌い、マスクの爆買いはする気はなかったそうですが、中国にいる知り合いから日本でマスクを買えるだけ調達してほしいとひっきりなしに連絡が入っていました。
日本人が購買に動いたのはその後で、どんなに供給体制を強化しても、「買えるだけ「日本で」爆買する」中国人観光客の後では、欠乏状態は避けられません。最初の中国人観光客の爆買がなければ、あれほど入手困難になることもなかったのかもしれません。
今後流行するであろう感染症についてもその発生源が中国である可能性が大きいことや、良識のない一部の日本人購買層を考えると、需要側をコントロールすることなしに、どれだけ供給側を強化したところで、必要なものが必要な人に届く体制が実現するとは思えません。
人間の動線や行動心理、過去に実際起こった事実をしっかり考慮した政策が期待されます。
