Can we say with certainty that renewable energy is a good energy source?
I travel back and forth between Tokyo and Kitakyushu several times a year, and each time I notice various changes.

What has been catching my attention recently is the construction work underway all over the country to cut open slopes and cover them with solar panels to build what could be called mega solar power plants.
Am I the only one who questions the idea that mega-solar power plants that are built by cutting down forests are called clean or green energy?
Mountains are being cut down at a rapid pace to cater to humans’ insatiable desire for electricity, and in Tokyo, the installation of solar panels is becoming mandatory for new construction projects.
Although it is not the Earth in the previously mentioned “Space Battleship Yamato,” it seems like a future where all humanity will live, may not underground, but under solar panels, is not so far.
Furthermore, am I the only one who feels uncomfortable with the fact that there is so much talk about developing new sources of energy, including renewable energy and nuclear power, but no suggestions for reducing energy use?
For example, every time I go to Tokyo in the summer, I think that if everyone in a densely populated area like Tokyo didn’t use air conditioning, the temperature would easily drop by 2 degrees C.
