Long-awaited one….

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

We got it, which everyone in town has been waiting for.

There are certain people in particular who are incredibly happy with it.

It is RAIN.

This winter, most of the Japanese archipelago is experiencing a drought.

And there are certain people who are happy with the rain: those who suffer from hay fever, including the host.

However, there were many tourists with umbrellas around the castle, which is a popular tourist spot.

I feel sorry for our guests from overseas who cannot easily change their itineraries because of the rain, but it is truly a blessing in disguise.

待ちに待った、、、

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。おはようございます。

町のみんなが待ちに待ったものがやってきました。

なかでも特定の人たちにはうれしくてたまりません。

それは雨！

今年の冬、日本列島の大部分は渇水状態なんです。

そして雨がうれしい特定の人たちとは、宿主を含む花粉症患者たち。

でも、観光スポットでもあるお城の周りには傘をさした観光客のみなさん。

海外からいらっしゃるゲストさんたちは雨だからとなかなか旅程を変更できないので申し訳ないなぁと思いますが、本当に「恵みの雨」です。

それでは、雨の中で深呼吸できる素敵な一日を！

A bit disappointing Sunday in February

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

This Sunday in the Kanmon area, or rather in our town, Kitakyushu…

Yes, the Kitakyushu Marathon!

Since opening, we have always had guests who are runners or have some other connection to the runners on this day, but…

this weekend, we had guests from overseas who was not a runner stay at this guesthouse.

As a result, there was no opportunity for us to cheer on the guests along the road this time.

It’s a bit disappointing.

So, on Sunday morning, before the town became abuzz with the marathon and its supporters, we saw our guests off as they checked out, and I decided to take a quick look around the marathon course while I was out shopping.

Then I just cheered on the group at the front.

As you can see, this guesthouse is in the perfect location for both participating as a runner and cheering on the runners.

We really hope the runners stay there next year!

ちょっと残念な２月の日曜日

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。おはようございます。

この日曜日の関門エリアは、というより「おいらの街」北九州は、、、

そう、北九州マラソン！

でも、、、開業以来この日にはランナーか何かしら関係のあるゲストさんにご利用いただいてきましたが、、、

この週末は非ランナーの海外からのゲストさんに滞在いただきました。

そのため今回ばかりは沿道でゲストさんを応援するということがありませんでした。

なんか、ちょっと残念です。

というわけで、日曜の朝は、マラソンと応援者で町が騒然となる前にゲストさんのチェックアウトをお見送りし、お買い物ついでにコースをちょっとだけのぞいてみることにしました。

Speaking of topics we’ve heard from guests…

One day, a guest from Europe checked in and seemed in a bad mood, so I asked her why…

The reason the guest was angry was

the supermarket in Japan!

When she came to Japan and went shopping, she was surprised by the way the goods were displayed.

When I asked her more about this,

she told me that she couldn’t believe that almost all the products on display in Japanese supermarkets are wrapped in plastic.

This “gap in perception” is probably the main reason why Japan was awarded the “Fossil of the Day” award during the COP (Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) every time.

With our guest’s words in mind, I look around the supermarket once again and am impressed by how right she is.

With plastic so rampant, it’s perhaps somewhat comical that citizens are switching from plastic bags to reusable bags and shouting “So eco-friendly!”

問題なのは袋よりも、その中身！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。おはようございます。

ゲストから聞いた話題といえば、、、

ある日、チェックインした欧州からのゲストさんがあまり機嫌がよくなかったのでその訳をきいたところ、、、

ゲストが怒っていた理由は

スーパーマーケット！

日本に来て買い物に行ったところ、商品の陳列に驚いたということでした。

なんのことか詳しく聞くと、、、

日本のスーバーマーケットに陳列されている商品はほとんど全てプラスチック（ビニール）で梱包されていて、それが信じられないということでした。

そこにムカつくなんて、そんな「感覚のギャップ」こそが、COP（国連気候変動枠組条約締約国会議）期間中に日本が「化石賞」を授与される最大の理由なんでしょうね。

そう言ったゲストさんの言葉を頭に、あらためてスーパーの店内を見回してみると、たしかにゲストさんの言った通りだと感心してしまいます。

これだけプラスチックが氾濫していて、レジ袋をマイバックに変えて「エコだ、エコだ！」といっている国民はどこか滑稽なのかもしれませんね。
