The final stage of the Olympics coincides with the season of reminiscing about the previous war.
It’s a hot summer that reminds me of Japan from 1941-1945, every time I see the Japanese flag broadcast in both news on TV.
During the Olympics, just turning on the TV can make us fall into “patriotic bias,” but this year’s Olympics were a little different.

Speaking of French territories in the South Pacific, the riots in New Caledonia are still fresh in our minds, and I guess that Tahiti is also experiencing some form of repression.
The best in the world was born from such an island. And the victory was decided after just two rides. What a drama!

I recommend watching a nice drama with a real story when you can.

P.S. Regardless of the athletes who actually put their all into deadly fighting in the competition, the sight of Japanese medalists being praised over and over again on TV stations and newspapers is reminiscent of the “worship in the God of War” and “Imperial Headquarters Announcements” in the early 1940s. I feel like they are similar.

オリンピックの終盤戦が先の戦争を回顧する季節と重なり、、、
その両方でテレビで報道される日の丸を見るたびに、1941-1945の日本を彷彿させる暑い夏です。
しかしながら、オリンピック開催中はテレビをつけるだけで「愛国バイアス」に陥ってしまうのですが、
今年のオリンピックは一味違いました。
つまり、日本人がメダルを取れるかどうかにかかわらず、見たい競技を会場に行かずして高画質・ライブで観戦できるのです。
それを実現したのが「ネット配信」！
そんなオリンピック競技観戦の中でも、宿主のオススメは「サーフィン」。

南太平洋のフランス領といえば、ニューカレドニアでの暴動が記憶に新しいですが、きっとタヒチでもそれなりの抑圧などはあるんだろうと推測します。
そんな島から世界一が生まれた！それもたった２本のライドで優勝が決まりました。なんともドラマです。

P.S. 実際に死力を尽くして競技に立ち向かう選手たちはともかく、日本人メダリストをテレビ各局・新聞各社で必要以上に何度も何度も称える姿は、1940年代前半の「軍神様信仰」「大本営発表」に似ているように感じてしまいます。
