The reason of the comfortable beach
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
Here is a city rich in diversity, with the sea, mountains, industrial areas, and commercial areas.
In particular about the sea, this city is surrounded by the SUOUNADA Sea to the east and the HIBIKINADA Sea to the north.
The SUOUNADA is part of the SETO Inland Sea, so it is generally calm, but
HIBIKINADA is part of the Sea of Japan, so it often gets stormy in the winter, but the waves can be good on days when the wind becomes weak after winter storms.
So the beach on the HIBIKINADA side is the main surfing spot in winter, but
surfing at the beach is comfortable, not only because the waves are good.
As I think there are few opportunities to come across the real reason, so I would like to share this information.

Just after I thought young students were enjoying their youth time on the sand, I saw evidence of them cleaning the beach in front of their school bus!
It seems that they were spending some time on the beach after cleaning the coast.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the students!
In fact, when I go to the beach, I often come across not only high school students, but also middle school and elementary school students doing beach cleans.
I would like to share this with you so that everyone can know how this city’s coastline is kept clean.
I try to pick up trash when I feel like it, and I want everyone to avoid polluting the ocean, which is the source of all life of the earth.

あまり知られていない快適なわけ
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
ここは海あり山あり工業地帯あり商業エリアもある多様性に富んだ街です。
特に海は東を周防灘、北を響灘に囲まれた地形です。
周防灘は瀬戸内海の一部なので大体穏やかですが、
響灘はつまり日本海の一部なので、冬になると時化ることが多く、その合間の風の弱い日に良い波が立ちます。
そんな響灘側のビーチは冬場メインのサーフスポットになるわけですが、
ここで波に乗るのが快適なのは、良い波が立つからだけではありません。
その本当の理由に出くわす機会も少ないと思うので、情報をシェアします。

若い学生たちが砂浜で青春を謳歌しているのかと思ったら、、、スクールバスの前には彼らがビーチクリーンした形跡が！
海岸を清掃した後のひと時を砂浜で過ごしていたようです。
この場を借りて、学生さんたちどうもありがとう！
実は、ビーチに通っていると、高校生だけでなく、中学生や小学生などもビーチクリーンをしている場面に出会うことが少なくありません。
こんな風にこの街の海岸が綺麗に保たれていることを、皆さんにも知っていただきたくて共有します。
自分も気がついたらゴミを拾うようにはしていますが、命の源である海は汚さないようにしたいですね。
