The place where you can learn about your roots is…
National Museum of Nature and Science.
The exhibit that the host was very interested in was…
“Ancient DNA: The Journey of the Japanese People”!
As I had always wanted to learn more about my ancestors, so I was determined to see this special exhibit.
The content was very interesting to me.
The first thing I saw when I entered the venue was the oldest human DNA and human bones in Japan, as well as the skull of a Jomon person and an image of a Jomon person’s face reconstructed from it.
After spending 10 minutes in this area, it became clear to me that I don’t have much Jomon ancestry.
(It is very interesting to note that the Jomon people were tolerant of alcohol.)
And what determined my roots was…
Exhibits in the area of Japanese people from the Yayoi period onwards!
The gene distribution map and skeletal comparison between Jomon and immigrant Yayoi people presented there were enough information for me to determine my roots.
The skeletal comparison in particular was powerful enough for me to realize this for myself.
The “immigrant” referred to here is the historical term for “GAIJIN,” a term normally used with respect by the host, and I realized that I, too, am of GAIJIN descent.
Well, it seems that our guests and I may have the same ancestors… that’s my conclusion this time.
Coincidentally, today, May 18th, is International Museum Day!

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
自分のルーツを知れる場所、そこは、、、
国立科学博物館。
宿主が強い興味を持って見に行った展示は、、、
「古代DNA – 日本人のきた道」！
以前から、自らの先祖について知りたいと考えていたので、この特別展示は絶対に見たいと考えていました。
その内容は自分自身にとってとても興味深いものでした。
まず会場に入って目にするのが、日本人最古のヒトDNAと人骨、そして縄文人の頭蓋骨とそこから復元された縄文人の姿。
このエリアに１０分いて、まず自分は縄文人の血をそれほどひいていないことは十分実感できました。
（ここで縄文人がお酒に強かったというのは非常に興味深い解説です。）
そして、自分のルーツを決定付けたのは、、、
弥生時代以降の日本人のエリア！
そこで提示されていた遺伝子の分布図と、縄文系弥生人と渡来系弥生人の骨格比較は自分のルーツを決定づけるに十分な情報でした。
特に骨格比較については、そう認識するに十分な強烈な力を持つものでした。
ここでいう「渡来人」とは、宿主が普段から敬意を持って使っている言葉「ガイジン」の歴史的呼称であり、つまりは自分自身もガイジンの血をひく系統であることを認識しました。
なんだぁ、ゲストさんとご先祖様は同じかもしれないってことじゃん、、、これが今回の結論です。
