Boundary line between life and death

Today, as a powerful typhoon approaches the Kanto region, the bad thing about Japanese people is that they seem to forget the past disaster.
This will be especially true after the Japanese government ends its warning of “mega-earthquake”.
Now is the time for the host who are highly conscious about natural disasters to look back.
I would like to share the “boundary line” that I saw last week, based on my experience of hearing the voices of people who were victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake and seeing the “boundary line” between life and death.
Speaking of “Nankai Trough Earthquakes”, they pose the greatest risk to marine sports enthusiasts who use the ocean and beaches as their field of activity.
As a person who has seen the spectacular sea walls and Tsunami evacuation towers in the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, Suruga Bay, Enshu Sea, Tosa Bay, and Hyuga Sea, the threat of Tsunami is immeasurable.
However, no matter how good the equipment is, if it does not have the “spirit of disaster prevention” to operate it, it will be nothing more than a “useless piece of equipment” and a “building on the sand.”
So, right after the recent “Hyuganada Earthquake” occurred, I tried to gather information about what my favorite beaches in Miyazaki were actually like.
First, check the web camera near the epicenter…
Unbelievably, immediately after the earthquake occurred at 4:43 p.m. on the 8th, right as media companies were repeatedly issuing tsunami warnings, people were seen surfing in the sea and children playing on the shore at a beach.
There was also a beach where everyone who was in the water had gotten out of the water, but many people were looking anxiously at the sea from the road along the coast.
The most impressive thing was the live broadcast from a helicopter on TV. I was moved when I saw a video of a vast parking lot on the beach with zero cars there shortly after the earthquake at the beach, which is a very popular spot for surfing.
This is because the beach is the place the host has visited often, and when I saw the aerial images on TV, I could identify where was it.
I know that many local surfers would come after work and park their car for surfing even weekday evening.
By chance, the tsunami of a deadly size did not come this time, but I was able to see the “boundary line between life and death” in the three beaches mentioned above.
While the risk of “Nankai Trough Earthquakes” continues to be raised, I decided to keep using this beach as my only option.
The host, whose motto is “Heaven helps those who help themselves,” do not think that we should help people who die without even trying to save themselves, and even if we try to help them, we believe that we cannot help them.
I do hope each of us will be able to think and act on our own.

生と死の間の境界線
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
強力な台風が関東に接近している今日日、過ぎた災害を忘れてしまいそうなのが日本人の悪いところ。
それも日本政府が「巨大地震注意」の呼びかけを終了した後ではなおさらでしょう。
そんな今だからこそ、自然災害に関心の高い宿主が振り返ります。
かつて東日本大震災で被災した方々から生の声を聞いて、生と死の間にある「境界線」を見た体験から、先週見えた「境界線」を共有します。
「南海トラフ地震」といえば、海・ビーチを活動のフィールドとしているマリンスポーツ愛好家にとっては最大のリスクです。
東日本大震災被災地、駿河湾、遠州灘、土佐湾、そして日向灘の沿海で仰々しいほどの防潮堤や津波避難タワーの実物を見てきた者として、その脅威は計り知れません。
ただ、いくら優れた設備を作っても、運用に対する「防災の魂」がなければ、どんな設備も「無用の長物」「砂上の楼閣」でしかありません。
というわけで、今回の「日向灘の地震」が発生した直後、大好きな宮崎のビーチが実際どんな風になっているか、情報収集してみました。
まずは震源近くのWebカメラを確認すると、、、
信じられないことに8日午後4時43分に地震が発生してすぐ、メディア各社が津波警報を連呼していたまさにその間ずっと、普通に海に入っている人がいたり、子供が波打ち際で遊んでいたビーチがあったようです。
また、海にいた全員が海から上がったものの、海沿いの道路から何人もが心配そうに海を眺めていたビーチもありました。
一番印象的だったのは、テレビで流れたヘリコプターからのライブ中継です。波乗りメッカのビーチで、地震後まもなく海辺の広大な駐車場から一台の車もなくなっていたのが映されたのを見た時には感動すら覚えました。
なぜならそのビーチは宿主が一番お世話になっている場所で、テレビの空撮画像を見た瞬間にピンときました。本来なら平日の夕刻でも多くの地元サーファーが仕事後に車でやってきているスポットだったのです。
今回はたまたま致命的なサイズの津波は来ませんでしたが、上記３つのビーチの間にも「生と死の境界線」を見ることが出来ました。
今後も「南海トラフ地震」のリスクが叫ばれている間は、こちらのビーチ一択で利用しようと思いました。
「天は自ら助くるものを助く」の精神をモットーとする宿主は、助かろうと努力もしないままに死んでいく人を助けるべきとは思わないし、仮に助けようとしても助けることはできないと考えています。
私たちひとりひとりが自ら考えて行動できるようになるといいですね。
