Always Christmas!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

One of our guests this week really enjoyed their stay here.

After their checking out, I found a message in the room and when I checked it and I saw

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

the guest commented that their stay here felt like a Christmas present.

We were deeply impressed as a host, but at the same time, considering that this guesthouse did not offer any special/additional hospitality just because of them.

Does this mean that we offer Christmas presents all year round?

So, please come and stay with us any time of the year to get the Christmas present from us.

いつでもクリスマス！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

今週、当宿をご利用いただいたゲストさんの中に、ここでの滞在をえらく気に入ってくれた方がいらっしゃっいました。

チェックアウト後にメッセージがあったので確認したところ、そこには、、、

ここで滞在した時間がまるでクリスマスプレゼントのようだった、とのコメントが書かれていました。

いたく感銘すると同時に、その方だからと当宿が特別のおもてなしをしたわけではないことを考慮すると、

当宿では年中いつでもクリスマスプレゼントを提供していることになるのかな？

Still raining even after late night

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

On Christmas Eve 2025, unfortunately it started raining in the afternoon in Kitakyushu.

Some people might hope that the rain turn into snow like in the old hit song,

but  it’s unlikely to turn into snow by the midnight of Christmas Eve.

By the way, if you ask people in Japan today where they will go on Christmas Eve or Christmas, I think many will say they will go to a Christmas market or eat out.

But wait a minute. The place we should actually go is

the Church, isn’t it? 

The host doesn’t go to church either, but to be honest, he is making great use of Christmas.

No, not for ourselves,

but for the kids!

This year, we again played with the kids and decorated the tree together.

We hope that we could create a time for children who have been left behind in the shadows of the world to regain their smiles, even if just for a little while.

I don’t have any religious beliefs, but I believe that if we use it in this way, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit will forgive us…

雨は夜更け過ぎになっても、、、

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

2025年のクリスマスイブ、午後になってここ北九州ではあいにくの雨となりました。

昔のヒットソングのようにこの雨が雪になることを期待する声もあるのでしょうが、

残念ながらイブのうちに雪に変わることはないでしょう。

ところで、クリスマスイブやクリスマスにどこに行くの？と聞けば、クリスマスマーケットや外食へという人が今の日本では少なくないのではないでしょうか。

でも、ちょっと待ってください。本来行くべきところって、、、

教会ではないのかな？

かくいう宿主も教会にはいきませんが、正直なところクリスマスを大いに利用させてもらっています。

いえいえ、自分たちのためではありません。

子供達とのために！

今年も子供達と遊び、一緒にツリーを飾りました。

世の中の影に取り残された子供たちが、ほんの少しでも笑顔を取り戻せる時間を作れたとしたら良いのですが。

そこに信仰心はありませんが、こんな活用であれば、父と子と精霊も許してくれると信じて、、、

Unfair that can’t be helped

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

In the previous article, I talked about the sunset on the winter solstice seen from here…

The picture was taken a little after 17:00.

I was in Tokyo until last week, so I know that the sun sets in Tokyo at around 16:30.

It’s pretty dark in Tokyo by 17:00.

The sunset time at Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, which is attached to this article, is approximately 16:45,

which means the difference in sunset time between here and Tokyo is about 30 minutes, and between here and Kansai is 15 minutes.

30 minutes may not seem like much, but it’s better to understand that it makes a difference every day.

To be honest, I feel like I’ve gained a lot since coming back here.

It seems that eastern Japan is good for people who go to bed early and get up early, while western Japan is good for people who go to bed late and get up late.

如何ともし難い不公平

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

ひとつ前の記事で、ここから見る冬至の日の日没のことを話題にしましたが、、、

添付した画像を撮影したのは１７時過ぎです。

先週まで東京にいたので分かるのですが、東京の日没がだいたい１６時半。

１７時ともなると東京では結構暗いです。

この記事に添付した明石大橋の日没時間がおおよそ１6時４５分だったので、

日没時間差は当地と東京とで約３０分、関西とで１５分ということになるでしょうか。

３０分と言われると、たいしたことないように感じるかもしれませんが、その差が毎日生じていることを理解する方が良いかもしれません。

正直言ってこっちに戻ってきてから、なんかすごく得している気がしています。

早寝早起きする人には東日本、遅寝遅起きする人には西日本が良さそうですね。
