This photo exhibition shows the severity of the earthquake and the progress of recovery.
And the place my host wanted to visit the most was the shop located diagonally across the intersection, back above ground from this gallery.
(Perhaps it would be more accurate to call it a food stand rather than a shop.)
I’ve wanted to go for two years and it’s finally happening.
Just as I had expected, the shop has a great atmosphere.
As I learned about this shop from a TV program, there is a table in front of the store where you can buy food and eat it right away, so I decided to use that table.

First, I ordered the Sujitama Okonomiyaki, which is labeled “the taste of Nagata.”
I enjoyed the fluffy texture and rich flavor.
While I was struggling with the okonomiyaki, I saw many customers coming to the shop one after another to buy some, and I realized that it is loved by the locals.
My original plan was to have Okonomiyaki, followed by Yakisoba, and then Ooban-yaki (called Iroha-yaki there) to finish off the meal, but…
The Okonomiyaki was a little too filling, so we decided to save the yakisoba for next time…
I decided to finish off with a dessert, ordering iroha-yaki with red beans and custard.
The exquisite balance between the dough and the filling, and I surprised how delicious it was!
Before I knew it, the local old man sitting next to me at the table was also munching on red bean and custard after his Okonomiyaki.
Hearing the man’s story about the earthquake disaster was an unforgettable experience, along with the delicious Okonomiyaki and Iroha-yaki.

一番行きたかったところ！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
巨大な鉄人２８号から南にまっすぐ進み交差点を渡ったところの地下にあるのがこちら、、、
WALL GALLERY
震災の激しさと、復興の歩みが、こちらの写真展示で分かります。
そして、宿主が一番行きたかったのは、こちらのギャラリーより地上に戻り、交差点の対角線上にあるお店です。
（お店というよりは、フードスタンドという方が正しい表現でしょうか）
二年間ずっと行きたかったのが、ようやく実現しました。
事前情報に違わずとても雰囲気の良いのお店です。
このお店を知ることとなった番組の内容通り、お店の前には買ってすぐ食べるテーブルがあり、自分もそこを使わせてもらうことに。

まずは「長田の味」と但し書きのあるお好み焼き「すじ玉」を注文。
ふわふわ食感の濃いめの味付けを楽しみました。
お好み焼きと格闘している間にも、お店には次々とお客さんが買いに来る様子を見て、地元のみんなに愛されているんだなぁと実感しました。
当初お好み焼きからの、焼きそば、締めに大判焼き（いろは焼きというそうです）の予定でしたが、、、
お好み焼きが微妙にボリュームがあったので、焼きそばは次回に回すことにして、、、
締めのスイーツに突入、いろは焼きをあずきとカスタードで注文しました。
生地と中身の絶妙のバランス、その旨さに、真面目にほっぺたが落ちそうになりました。
気がつくとテーブルに相席していた地元のおじさんも、お好み焼きの後、同じくあずきとカスタードを頬張っていました。
そのおじさんから震災の時の話を聞くことができて、お好み焼き・いろは焼きの旨さと併せて忘れられないひと時となりました。
