Seeing things objectively
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
A guest who had traveled all the way to this unusually hot country asked me a question.
The question came right after I explained that with the temperature rising every year, the seasonal flowers that the region is so proud of are coming into bloom earlier.
“Are Japanese people really taking global warming seriously?”
Why are all the cars on the Japanese roads gasoline-powered?
and why are almost all the products we see in supermarkets wrapped in plastic?
Hmm, that’s certainly true…
Even though we are actively fighting global warming and environmental issues, eco bags are not the only thing we should be doing!
Electric cars are rarely offered as a purchasing option, and road and charging environments are not improved. TV commercials are mostly for gasoline cars, and at most hybrid cars.
This is what it means to be an island nation, and perhaps we are really just frogs in a well.
If we continue to live comfortably in this island nation without knowing anything about the rest of the world, we will no longer know whether what we are doing is within the realms of normalcy.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
異様なまでに暑いこの国へはるばるやってきたゲストさんに問いかけられました。
年を追うごとに気温が上がって、地域が自慢する季節の花の見頃が早くなっていることを説明した直後のことでした。
「いったい日本人は地球温暖化に対して真面目に取り組んでいるんですか？」と、、、
道路を走っている車はガソリン車ばかりだし、
スーパーで見る商品はほとんど全てがプラスティックで包装されているのは何故なの？
う〜ん「たしかに」、、、、
地球温暖化や環境問題に積極的に立ち向かっているとはいっても、エコバックだけではね！
電気自動車は購入の選択肢にほとんど上がってこないし、道路・充電環境も改善されない。テレビCMもガソリン車、あってハイブリッド車のものばかり。
これぞ島国、私たちってやっぱり井の中の蛙なのかもしれません。
この島国の中でずっとぬくぬく過ごして他を知らないままだと、自分たちがやっていることがまともの範疇なのかも分からなくなります。
それでは、自分がやっていることをしっかりと見つめ直す素敵な一日を！
