A recent trend among our guests is that more and more people are spending special occasions at this guesthouse.

Is it because we have changed our style of OMOTENASHI (=hospitality) in response of the post-COVID?

This was unexpected for us, but we are grateful and very happy about it.

To make guests’ stay even more special, we get high motivation even more rewarding to provide hospitality!

We have expanded our range of plans and props to cater to each guest’s special occasions.

We hope all potential guests will feel at ease when choosing our accommodation, knowing that we may even have some unexpected surprises along the way.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

最近のゲストさんの傾向として、特別な日を当宿で過ごされる方がとても増えています。

ポストコロナの対応として、おもてなしのスタイルを変えたからでしょうか？

こちらとしては想定外でしたが、ありがたく、とてもうれしい展開です。

さらにスペシャルな滞在となるよう、お・も・て・な・しに対するやりがいもマシマシです！

ゲストさんそれぞれの各種「特別」に対して、それぞれに対応するプランや小道具も充実してきました。

予想外のサプライズまで含めて、安心して当宿を選んでいただきたいですね。

Can see all the way to the other side

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

This is an episode of last weekend.

The guest came all the way here with one purpose.

And on the way here, the guest achieved the purpose and checked in.

The purpose was…

to see a Japanese fireworks festival!

One of the several fireworks festivals held here in Kitakyushu every summer was held in October this year.

The fireworks will be set off over Dokai Bay in Wakamatsu Ward.

In the guest’s country, fireworks last at most 10 minutes, so she wanted to see a Japanese fireworks display at least once.

We thought we wouldn’t be able to see it from here, since it’s located on the other side of Hikoshima Island across the strait, but…

When it was time for the fireworks display, we could hear the faint sound of fireworks popping in the distance.

I looked around to see if we could see any fireworks from here…

There’s a movement to make our town a “Sushi Town,” but am I the only one who thinks it would be more appealing to call it a “Fireworks Town”?

向こう側まで見える！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

先週末の話です。

そのゲストさんは目的を持ってここまでやってこられました。

そしてここに来るまでの間に目的を果たし、チェックインされました。

その目的とは、、、

日本の花火大会！

毎夏、ここ北九州で開催されているいくつかの花火大会のうちひとつが、今年は１０月開催となりました。

場所は若松区、洞海湾であがる花火です。

ゲストさんの国では花火といえば長くて１０分で終わるので、一度日本の花火大会を見ておきたかったということです。

ここからだと海峡の向かいの彦島の、さらに向こう側に位置するため見えないだろうと思っていたら、、、

花火大会開催の時間になると、遠くからかすかに花火の弾ける音が聞こえてきました。

どこからか花火が見えないかと探すと、、、

おいらの街を「すしのまち」にしようという動きがありますが、むしろ「花火のまち」とするほうがより魅力的ではないかと思うのは自分だけでしょうか？

Thankfully, Guesthouse TOUKA has been used by a variety of guests again in this month.

Each guest is unique and one of a kind, and we are grateful every day for the energy, joy, and happiness they share with me.

A guest who worked in Japan until last year and keeps coming to Japan to travel around.

Work in Japan…. the Keyword is “Working Holiday”! 

Although it is not a word to hear often, it is a word often discussed at this guesthouse.

The place where the guest worked was…

Sapporo!

The facility where the guest worked was…

Sapporo Beer Garden!!

The guest told us some very unique stories.

The host’s insatiable curiosity led him to ask this Japan-loving guest:

“Why did you choose this country when there are other working holiday destinations with better jobs, such as Australia and New Zealand?”

“What was the main reason you became interested in Japan before coming?”

The guest’s answer was…

The anime “Atashin’chi”!

Apparently, the initial trigger was that the guest wanted to try CHIKUWA featured in the episode, once in Japan.

A guesthouse where such interesting conversations unfold… why not try staying here once?

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

ありがたいことに、今月もまたいろんなゲストさんにご利用いただいているゲストハウス灯火です。

どのゲストさんも唯一無二、とてもユニークな方ばかりで、彼らからエネルギーや、喜びや、幸せ感をたくさんシェアいただいていることに日々感謝しています。

昨年まで日本で働いていて、それが終わってもまだ日本に旅行にいらっしゃっているゲストさん。

日本での労働、、、キーワードは「ワーキング・ホリデー」！（*以下、ワーホリ）

一般的に耳にすることは少ないと思いますが、当宿ではこの単語、よく話題に上ります。

今回のゲストさんが就労した土地は、、、

札幌！

働いた施設は、なんと、、、

サッポロビール園！！

とてもユニークなエピソードをいくつか教えてもらいました。

そんな日本大好きゲストさんに、宿主の止まらぬ好奇心から質問したのは、

「他にもオーストラリアやニュージーランドなど割りのいい仕事の多いワーホリ先もあるのにどうしてこの国？」

「日本に来る以前に、日本に興味を持つことになった一番のきっかけは？」

ゲストさんの答えは、、、

アニメ「あたしんち」！

そのエピソードの中で出てきた「ちくわ」を是非一度日本で食べたくなった、というのが最初のきっかけらしいです。
