We have been keeping a close eye on in-store sales of imported rice since the end of last year.
A few days ago, we reported on the actual product displays at distribution warehouse retailers, but…
It seems that import volumes are increasing at an incredible rate, to the point that even the Minister concerns about.
That’s 2,000 times more!

What worries me most is the alarming increase in imports from overseas. Compared to last year, the overall increase is 300 times, and if we look at American rice alone, it’s an astounding 2,000 times!
The reason why it is increasing is because domestically produced rice is more expensive even if you pay high tariffs on imported one. This is 300 times and 2,000 times higher in trade without government intervention and in private trade that is completely outside the framework. As a result, more and more foreign rice is entering the convenience food and restaurant industry, and without us even realizing it, the market share of domestically produced rice in Japan is declining. We must absolutely stop this, so we would like farmers to understand that we are investing in crops even before they are stockpiled, as it is necessary to stabilize prices.
When it comes to eating out, Japanese people don’t really care whether the rice is imported or domestically produced… which means the quality is just as good.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
昨年末から注視してきた輸入米の店頭販売。
数日前にも流通倉庫販売店での現品陳列をレポートしましたが、、、
やっぱり輸入量は大臣が意識するぐらいに、とんでもない勢いで増えているようです。
その量、なんと2,000倍っ！
日曜の政治討論番組で話題になっていました。（アメリカ米、前年比）

最も心配してるのは海外からの輸入が恐ろしいほど増えています。昨年と比べた時に全体で言えば300倍。そしてアメリカのお米だけを見ればなんと2000倍、これだけ増えてます。なぜ増えてるかと言えば、高い関税を払ってでも国産米の方が高いから。これは政府が介入しない貿易の中で、完全に枠外への民間貿易の中で300倍と2000倍です。これで結果として中食外食、この中にどんどん外国のお米が入っていて、我々が意識しない中で日本の国産のマーケットシェアが落ちている。これを絶対に食い止めなければならないので、価格の安定化が必要だと言うことで備蓄前も投入してる事は農家の皆さんにもご理解いただきたいと思います。
