Every weekend in summer, we can see and hear fireworks somewhere here in Kanmon area.
Of these, the Kanmon Strait Fireworks Festival is the largest one…
In my previous article, I focused only on the beautiful parts and wrote about it as if it were a perfect fireworks festival,
but in fact, there were both good points and bad points.
The first good thing is the positioning of the drone show.
Last year, it was programmed in during the fireworks, causing a sudden lull in the excitement as the drones began to launch.
This year, however, it was programmed in before the fireworks, playing an important role in building up the excitement leading up to the festival.
What wasn’t so good was the composition of the fireworks.
The main fireworks that can be seen from our hotel are those launched from the Shimonoseki side. Previous information has said that there were 3,000 more fireworks than last year, but…

Since the total program time remained the same, it seems that the launch was rushed, and in the latter half of the fireworks, the next firework would burst into smoke from the previous one, creating a show of colorful smoke rather than fireworks.
The town remained smoky for some time after the event, and the condition was even reflected in measurements of suspended particles in the air.
It’s about time Japanese people realized that the misconception that a larger number is better is the same as the annual income of a potential spouse, and will never lead to good results.
And finally, the thing that interests us the most.
When the guests who stayed here that day returned from the fireworks, we asked them, “How was it?”
They looked exhausted and simply replied, “There were too many people.” They took a shower and went to bed right away.
(The next morning, they woke up feeling very energetic, though.)
On that day, JR will also increase the schedule to three times the usual number, as part of its strategy to cram as much trains as possible into the trains while it can make money.
We heard that there was a lot of trash left behind after the event.
It’s a traditional event that has been going on for about 40 years, so it can’t be stopped, but perhaps it’s time to consider adjusting the scale and size appropriately.

数字への過信 〜 究極のオーバーツーリズム
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
夏の毎週末、どこかの花火が見える・聞こえるここ関門エリアです。
中でも一番の規模の関門海峡花火大会について、、、
二つ前の記事では、綺麗なところだけを切り取って、さも完璧な花火大会のように記事にしましたが、
実は、良かった点、心配される点、どちらもありました。
まず良かった点、、、それはドローンの位置付け。
昨年は花火打ち上げの途中にプログラムされていて、ドローンの開始とともに一気に盛り下がっていたのが、
今年は花火打ち上げ前に組み込まれていたので、お祭り前の気分を盛り上げる重要な役割を果たしていました。
イマイチだったのは、、、花火の構成。
当宿から見えるメインの花火は下関サイドの打ち上げです。前情報では前年より花火を3,000発増やしたそうですが、、、

ブログラムのトータル時間に変わりないので、押し込んでの打ち上げだったのか、花火後半では前の花火の煙の中に次の花火が開くということが繰り返され、花火ではなく各色に光る煙のショーになっていたことです。
イベント後の町もしばらく煙っていて、その状態は大気中の浮遊粒子の測定値にも現れるほどでした。
数が大きければ良いという勘違いは、婚活対象の年収と同じで、決して良い結果に結びつかないことをそろそろ日本人も気付くべきですね。
そして最後に、当宿にとって一番関心の高いこと。
その日滞在されたゲストさんは、花火から戻ってきた時の「どうでした？」のこちらからの問いに、、、
疲労困憊の表情で「人が多過ぎ」とだけ言葉少なに返答し、シャワーを浴びた後すぐに就寝されたようです。
（翌朝はとても元気に目覚めておられましたが、、、）
当日はJRも通常の三倍にダイヤを増便し、稼げる時に詰め込められるだけ詰め込もうという戦略です。
イベント後の放置ゴミも凄かったと聞いています。
４０年ほど続く伝統あるイベントなので止めることは出来ませんが、そろそろ規模・サイズ感を適正なものにしていくことを考える時期に入っているのかもしれませんね。
