The beautiful lady we’ve been seeing a lot lately, apparently wasn’t born in Japan

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

We can see the regular ferry service from Busan, South Korea every day from here, but…

we can also see many other ships from here.

We’ll just introduce a few of them.

In English, the pronouns used to describe a “ship” are “she” and “her.”

So, let’s start with this elegant lady!

Upon investigation, it appears to be a ship owned by a shipping company affiliated with a Japanese conglomerate, but tracing the ship’s registry reveals it was built in Italy.

No wonder it looks similar to the Italian luxury cruise ships that used to sail through the Kanmon Strait.

It seems that a Japanese shipping company purchased a ship that was in service with an Italian company.

With the Asuka III’s case, it seems that Japanese people love cruises on luxury ships.

It seems to be popular in neighboring country as well, so it may be something that is common among Asians.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

韓国釜山からの定期路線フェリーはここから毎日望むことができますが、、、

ここからは他にも色々な船を見ることができます。

そのほんの一部を紹介してみます。

英語では船を表す代名詞はshe, herを使用します。

そんなわけで、ではまずはエレガントな彼女を！

調べてみると、日本の財閥系の船会社の船のようですが、船籍を遡るとイタリアで作られた船のようです。

道理で、以前関門海峡を航行していたイタリアの豪華客船に似ているなぁと思うわけですね。

イタリアの会社で就航していた船を日本の船会社が購入したようです。

飛鳥IIIといい、どうも日本人は豪華客船でのクルーズがお好きなようですね。

お隣の国でも人気のようなので、アジア人あるあるなのかもしれませんね。

ありがたい乗り物 / Thankful vessel

Thankful vessel

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

It’s been a while since the COVID-19 pandemic subsided, but…

There are still some things that haven’t been resumed.

It’s a direct flight between Busan and Kitakyushu.

Compared to pre-COVID times, the number of guests coming from the northern part of our neighboring country has recovered significantly…

However, the number of guests coming from the southern part of the country is still stagnating.

In such situation, here is what has been working hard to transport our guests over the past few years!

Just last week, I somehow managed to wake up early and watch the ferry’s brave appearance as it arrived carrying guests.

We hope that regular flights will also return to Kitakyushu Airport.

ありがたい乗り物

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

新型コロナウイルスの感染が収束してから、ずいぶん経ちますが、、、

未だ復旧していないものがあります。

それは釜山・北九州間の直行便。

コロナ前と比較すると、お隣の国の北部からいらっしゃるゲストさんはずいぶんと回復したものの、、、

同南部からいらっしゃるゲストさんの数は未だ伸び悩んでいます。

そんな中、ここ数年がんばってゲストさんを運んでくれているのがこちら！

つい先週もありがたくも不思議と早起きしてしまい、ゲストさんを乗せてやって来る勇姿をここから眺めていました。

飛行機の定期便も北九州空港へ帰ってきて欲しいものです。

この宿の秘密兵器 / Secret weapon of this guesthouse

Secret weapon of this guesthouse

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

This guesthouse, “TOUKA,” is located in an old residential area, not in a busy downtown area nor a tourist spot.

There is a nearby train station, but it has no taxi stand, no bus stop, and of course no McDonald’s or police box.

Even though it is just a small guesthouse in a nondescript town, we are having guests who like it and stay here.

What delights these guests is the view from the windows here.

The host, hoping to please the guests even a little, has been gazing out the window at the strait below every day for years, and it seems that he has somehow developed a mysterious special ability.

The image shows the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force’s new destroyer, the Mikuma. According to their information, it appears to have the latest stealth capabilities.

And yet, for some reason, the image is taken at this angle.

Due to the terrain, you can’t take this image from here unless you position your camera within 10 seconds of it coming into view, the window frame.

Yes, our secret weapon and special ability is its anti-stealth function.

Even if it’s just in the corner of my field of vision, if an unusual ship appears I can immediately recognize it and take a photo.

The high-performance stealth capabilities of the ships or the vessels are not an issue.

When we notice any unusual ships, we immediately share the information with our guests, helping them create unique memories.

In that sense, our guests and we never get tired of the view from here.

この宿の秘密兵器

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

街でも、観光地でもない昔からの住宅地にある宿、それが当宿「灯火」。

最寄駅はありますが、その駅にはタクシー乗り場も、バス停もありません。もちろんマクドナルドも交番さえもありません。

そんな特徴のない町にあるただちいさいだけの宿にも関わらず、気に入って利用してくれるゲストさんがいらっしゃいます。

そんなゲストさんを喜ばせているのが、宿の窓からの眺める景色。

ゲストさんを少しでも喜ばせたいと宿主が毎日窓の外、眼下の海峡を何年も眺めていると、いつのまにか不思議な特殊能力が培われたみたいです。

画像は海上自衛隊の新型護衛艦「みくま」。情報によると最新のステルス機能を有しているようです。

それなのに、、、なぜかこの角度で画像に撮られる。

地形的な要因で、ここからだと視界・窓枠に入って１０秒以内にカメラを構えないとこの画像は撮れません。

そう、当宿の秘密兵器・特殊能力とはアンチステルス機能。

ここから見える視野の片隅であっても、変わった船が現れると即時認識〜撮影対応できるようになってしまいました。

その船・艦の高性能ステルス性などもおかまいないなしです。

そして気付いた珍しい船は即座にゲストさんに情報提供、ユニークな思い出にしていただいています。

そういう意味ではここからの景色、まったく飽きることがありません。

それでは、静かに移り変わる景色を楽しむ素敵な一日を！
