When we travel back and forth between Tokyo and Kitakyushu by car, the transportation costs, including the gasoline costs mentioned previously, may seem expensive, but…
In fact, the highway tolls are much cheaper.
The price is 3,580JPY one way (plus 110JPY for the Kanmon Tunnel)!
By avoiding expressways as much as possible, we can fill up with gas on the local roads, which is the cheapest in the area; we can enjoy the area at each stop (sightseeing, dining, exercise, etc); and there are more free bypasses than you might imagine, so it may be the best value for the money.
With the weak yen making it difficult for Japanese to travel abroad these days, this may be the right choice for travel lovers.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
東京〜北九州間を行ったり来たり、それを車でとなると先に記載したガソリン代を含め交通費が割高になりそうですが、、、
実は、高速代が安く上がります。
そのお値段、片道3,580円（と関門トンネル110円）！
できるだけ高速道路を使わない分、下道でガソリンを補給するため安くなるし、立ち寄り場所ごとにそのエリアを満喫（観光・食事・運動）できるし、想像よりも無料のバイパス等が整備されているし、コスパは最高かもしれません。
円安で日本人が海外旅行へ行きにくい今日日、旅好きには正しい選択肢かもしれません。
それでは、行き先は同じでも三倍楽しむ素敵な一日を！
