These are the scenes from our port town when the cherry blossoms are in bloom this year.

It seemed like everyone was preparing their costumes and taking photos…

When I was a student, I never dreamed that this town would become a stage for something like this.

It has now taken on an international flavor too.

今年のさくら咲く頃のわが港町の光景です。

自分の学生時代に、この町がこんな舞台になるとは夢にも思いませんでした。

それも今や国際色まで帯びてきています。

We will no longer be able to see one of our favorite night views from here.

This ferry will cease operation at the end of coming June.

Every night around 10 o’clock, we pause our conversations with guests to watch the regular Straits Show together from this dining room, but this will be coming to an end in just over two months.

We feel very sad and disappointed to think that another exciting event for our guests will be gone.

来たる６月いっぱいを持って、運航終了となるようです。

毎晩１０時前後になると、ゲストさんとの談話を一時停止して、ダイニングから一緒に眺めていた定期海峡ショーもあと２ヶ月余りで終わりです。

ゲストさんを感動させる出来事がまた一つなくなると思うと、とても残念で寂しい気分になります。

The original is gone!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

When the cherry blossoms in our port town were only about 80% in bloom, I was walking around town looking for more beautiful cherry blossoms and I found this sign board.

It’s a restaurant with the name we have seen before.

I remember that until recently, there was a restaurant here that claimed to be the original source of the town’s specialty dish.

Is it a metabolism of nostalgia?

Although not as much as Tokyo, this old town is also slowly changing.

Next time I pass by this road, I’ll follow the traffic signs, stop, and try this shop, I think.

P.S. For me, the Yakisoba and Okonomiyaki from this restaurant bring back fond memories of my student days, more so than the Yaki Curry.

本家本元がなくなってる！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

わが港町でさくらがまだ八分咲きだった頃に、よりきれいなさくらを探して町中巡っていて見つけました。

なんか見たことのある名前のお店が出来ていました。

この場所、少し前までは、確か町の名物料理の本家本元を自称していたお店があったように記憶しています。

懐かしいものへの新陳代謝でしょうか？

東京ほどではありませんが、この古い町も少しずつ移り変わっています。

次にこの道を通る時には、交通標識に従って一旦停止、このお店に立ち寄ってみようかな？

それでは、新しくて懐かしいものに遭遇する素敵な一日を！

P.S. 自分自身にとっては「焼きカレー」よりもこのお店の焼きそばやお好み焼きの方が学生時代の思い出にあって懐かしかったりします。
