Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
Between the two bases of Kitakyushu and Tokyo,
there is a continuous series of jewel-like spots.
In the past, among the spots I would visit castles in Matsuyama, Himeji, Kochi, Hikone, Azuchi, Takeda, etc.
But I realized that it was just looking at the residences of the former privileged classes,
So I began to feel that admiring such things made me feel somehow empty…
then now I mainly stop by B-grade cheap but fine gourmet spots.
This time, the theme of my gourmet stop is… “100 Year Restaurant.”
I had been dying to go to this restaurant since it was featured on TV in January, so I decided to take a look around when I made trip to Tokyo.

At the time of filming, the owner of this restaurant was already 86 years old, and after seeing him pushing himself to cook despite his aching body, I felt that I definitely wanted to visit the restaurant while he was in the kitchen.
In fact, this restaurant was not located between the two bases, but rather on the same train line of the nearest station from my Tokyo base.
Upon visiting, my first impression was that it was much smaller than I had imagined.
I thought I would have no choice but to share a table with other customers, as was shown on the show, but fortunately I was able to have the table all to myself that day.
And at the table next to us, just like in the show, two women who appeared to be Chinese tourists were eating.
Then, of course, I ordered…
“Tricolor rice”!
I was able to enjoy western-style but Japanese food with a gentle, nostalgic taste.
After paying the bill and leaving the store, I saw the signboard being removed behind me. In other words, I made it just in time before closing the restaurant!
Although I wasn’t able to see the owner this time, it was nice to hear his voice.
I could vividly imagine the owner was working hard cooking on the other side of the slightly open window separating the kitchen from the dining area.

三色？いや優しい虹色っ！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
北九州と東京、二拠点の間にあるのは、、、
それはめくるまく宝石のようなスポットの連続。
以前は、そのなかから松山・姫路・高知・彦根・安土・竹田などなど、お城を巡ったりしていましたが、、、
それって結局、昔の特権階級の居住物を見ているだけということが分かってからは、
そんなものを愛でるのはなんか虚しいように思うようになったので、、、
今では立ち寄るのはB級グルメスポットがメインとなっています。
で、今回の立ち寄りグルメのテーマは、、、「１００年食堂」。
１月にテレビで取り上げられていたお店に行きたくてしようがなくなっていて、東京行きに合わせて訪問してみたという次第です。

特にこちらは収録当時既に８６歳の店主が痛む体に鞭打って料理を作っているのを見て、その店主が厨房に立っている間に是非とも利用したいと考えていた食堂です。
実はこちら、二拠点間というよりは、むしろ東京の拠点の最寄駅から電車で一本という場所にある食堂でした。
訪ねてみて、最初の印象は想像していたよりもはるかに小さいということ。
番組で紹介されたように相席でも仕方ないかなと考えていましたが、幸運なことにこの日はテーブルをひとり占有できました。
そして、となりのテーブルでは番組同様、中国系観光客らしい女性二人組が食事をしています。
で、自分が注文したのは、もちろん、、、
三色ライス！
どこかなつかしい優しい味の洋食を満喫することができました。
会計を済ませてお店を出ると、その背後でかんばんの準備。つまり閉店前、ギリセーフ！というわけでした。
今回店主を見ることは叶いませんでしたが、声を聞けたのが良かったです。
少し開いた厨房と客席とを隔てる窓の向こうで、懸命に調理している姿をリアルに想像することが出来ました。
