Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
Long awaited Oct. 28th, Friday.
I woke up earlier than the guests’ starting to move.
With displaying NOREN (entrance curtain) and ANDON light, I looked up the sky. It was heavy rain, unfortunately.
Guests woke up later than their planing and went out in a hurry for art school.
After their leaving, I started to prepare my going out.
The place, I planned to visit, was a museum, biggest and only in this town.
Oct 28 is the first day after 1.5 years of its renovation.
And I had 2 more places to visit before the museum.
The first one was west quay of Mojiko:
Beautiful lady has just stopped there.
And I saw my friend working there.

The second place was a restaurant.
It is my favorite lunch restaurant.
And I saw another schoolmate working busy there.

“Living hometown is not bad” I really thought so after visiting 2 places.
As the restaurant is very close to the museum, I arrived at the museum, just before the opening time to the public.
I bought ticket and went into the museum.
However I didn’t go to the museum space.
I went into “the Room of Founding exhibition” at first.
The room was full of information about “the Man called pilate”.
In the various exhibitions, the most interesting one for me was “Mini-Theater” which is playing the digested movie “Nihonjin”.
The original film was made by the company “Idemitsu” just for its employees about 40 years ago. The total length of original version is longer than 3 hours. Even the digested version I saw was 30min, but I was drawn into the Idemitsu world soon after pushing play button.
If you are a fun of the novel “the Man called pilate”, this digested film is the must-see movie for you, I guarantee.
Not only the digested movie, but also other exhibitions are so interesting to me that I wanted to stay there more.
In the museum space, there were various beautiful ceramic goods displayed. I could really enjoy the Idemitsu collection there.
After watching both museums, Tokyo and Moji, I felt one thing.
The items exhibited in two museums were the result of business by not only the founder, but also its employees. I wonder how much the museum charged the fee to the employees and ex-employees, who contributed to the collection. I hope big discount was prepared to them, because Idemitsu has large-family-management policy.
I strongly thought so, when I saw an old man after watching the exhibition bowing low to the museum. I guessed that he must be an ex-employee of Idemitsu.
The museum was fun place to see the collection and to know the history of Idemitsu. Please go there, if you are a Japanese business man.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
待ちに待った10月28日（金）です。
ゲストが動き出す前に布団を飛び出して、暖簾・看板出し。
暖簾越しに見上げた空はあいにくの雨模様、、、それも本降り。
陶芸スクールに通うために滞在しているのに、当初のお出かけ予定時間を30分過ぎても部屋からは物音一つ聞こえてきません。
大丈夫かなと思っていたら、突然音がし始めてドタバタ劇の開演。雨は本降りだし、可哀想になって小森江駅まで車で送ってあげて、そこで一息、、、
なんて、一息なんてつく間もなく、自分も出かける準備スタート。
今日はこの街にある唯一最大の美術館のリニューアルオープン日。
開館時間にピッタリ合うように宿を飛び出しました。
実は美術館に行く途中、二箇所ほど立ち寄る場所があって、順に訪問します。
一つ目は門司港西海岸岸壁。
そこに有ったのは、、、
そこで会ったのは、、、
高校の同級生。（それが誰かは次回。ちゃんと仕事してましたよ。）
（＊尚、船員さんに聞いたところ、停泊は火曜日までとのことです。
帆船ファンは是非この週末に御覧ください。但し船内公開はなしです。）
二つ目は門司港レトロにある、お気に入りの昼食スポット。
（そこがどこか、なにが名物かは次回に。）
そこでもまた、高校の同級生が忙しく仕事をしてました。
なんか、故郷っていいなあ、、、って実感しました。
早めのお昼を食べたのが、美術館のすぐそばだったで、そのまま一般公開直前の11:55に美術館到着。
チケットを購入して、館内へ。
ところが、自分は一般観覧客とは別の順路に進みます。
まず立ち寄ったのは「創業資料室」。
東京にあるもう一つの美術館にもない施設で「海賊とよばれた男」の生きざまが展示されているからです。 そこで、海賊の足跡、この美術館の生い立ちから順に見ていきます。
「創業資料室」の展示には、ワクワクする資料・展示が溢れていました。
創業者が、産声をあげた町のこと。
商人（あきんど）としての修行時代。
この街、門司での創業〜苦難の時代。
海賊と呼ばれるに至った経緯。
世界中のド肝をぬいた偉業の数々。
なかでも一番ササッたのは、ミニシアターで放映されていた映画「日本人」。
ここでは映画をダイジェスト版にして3編、計30分の編集されたものが上映されています。
ダイジェストで30分も長いと思いましたが、プレイボタンを押すと同時に「海賊とよばれた男」ワールドに引き込まれてしまいます。
調べるとこの映画、創業60周年にあたる昭和47年に、出光興産が独自に制作したもので、元々は出光の社員にしか見せない特別な映画という扱いだったみたいです。全編は188分、3時間以上に及ぶものらしく、「店主」の創業から10周年までのドラマを、当時の映画界の豪華キャストが演じています。（見れば、すごい会社だと思いますよ。）
全編見たいところですが、「海賊とよばれた男」ファンには、まずこのダイジェスト版30分の映画「日本人」。 超がつくほどオススメです。
その他の展示も「海賊とよばれた男」に取り上げられたアイテム一つ一つが「生」展示されているので、かなりグッときました。
自分にとって「店主」の活躍時期は、生まれる前のことなので、展示の中に「懐かしい」と感じるものはほとんどありませんでしたが、一枚だけ懐かしい写真がありました。
その写真には以前の門司港「栄町交差点」が写されていて、そこにはあの宇宙船のような弧を描いたガソリンスタンド（出光門司支店）が写っていました。
現在この建物はなくなっていて、代わりにスーパーマーケットが営業しています。
（正直、右手にみえる山の向こうにある学校に通っていた頃は、なんか変わったスタンドだよなぁぐらいにしか感じていませんでしたが、、、）
さて、一年半をかけたリニューアルののち平屋から３階建てと展示スペースで1.5倍に拡張した美術館です。
自分には「創業資料室」ですでにお腹いっぱい感がありましたが、そこは「出光コレクション」、展示物には目を見張る者がありました。特殊な展示ケースや調光された個別照明のおかげで作品一つ一つを最高の状態で見れるように工夫されているようです。
普通の湯呑みセットに見えて、ものすごく繊細な加工がされている作品などに目が釘付けになっているうちに、気付けば入館から2時間ほど経過していました。
先々週に訪問した帝国劇場にあるもうひとつの出光美術館とあわせて、出光が一財をなしたことがよくわかりました。
そんな美術工芸品を見ながら、元サラリーマン視線で気になったことは、観覧する社員への待遇。
展示されている財一つ一つの原資は、店主のみならず、かの商店・企業の社員達が稼ぎ出したものであり、同時に出光がそうした社員に対してタイムカードなしの大家族経営を展開してきたことは日本経済界でも有名です。社内事情は知りませんが、社員・OBには入館料が無料であることを期待したいものです。
展示室から出る際に、展示室を振り返り「一礼」される年配の方を見た時には「グッ」ときてしまい、ふとそんなことを感じてしまいました。
それでは、どうぞ戦後「日本人」が成し遂げた血湧き肉躍る復興のようなエネルギッシュな週末を！
