The very best coffee break spot in Japan

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

After enjoying brunch while looking at Mt. Fuji through the cherry blossoms,

I felt like having some good coffee so I moved on.

I came to one of my recent favorite spot.

On this day, I was able to enjoy piping hot coffee while looking out at the Southern Alps in the distance.

But, one thing to note is 

that there are no shops here!

(There are new and clean toilets available, but…)

In other words, if you want to drink coffee here, you will have to bring it with you.

Thanks to the careful preparation in advance, I had a fantastic time which was hard to believe it was free.

日本一のコーヒーブレイク！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

さくら越しの富士山を眺めながらブランチをとった後は、

美味しい珈琲が飲みたくなって場所を移動。

ここのところお気に入りのスポットに来てみました。

この日は遠くに南アルプスの山々を望みながら、熱々の珈琲を味わうことが出来ました。

でも、注意しなくてはいけないのが、、、

ここにはお店がひとつもないこと！

（トイレはできたばかりのきれいなものがあるんですが、、、）

つまり、ここで珈琲を飲むなら、持参しなくては飲めないということです。

しっかり準備して訪れたお陰で、タダとは思えない最高の時間を過ごしました。

It’s time for the next thing, the next flower.

It is the time when this town, Kitakyushu, attracts the most attention from foreign tourists.

Probably much more popular and beautiful than cherry blossoms in town.

この町、北九州が一番外国人観光客に注目される時期でもあります。

人気、美しさともに、おそらく桜の花よりも、、、

都合のいい日本人の視野の狭さ / Narrow perspective of Japanese

Narrow perspective of Japanese

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

The Southern part of the city by local line.

Our guests gave up on going because they had no means of transportation from there.

I looked at the place where they wanted to go from afar.

According to the city’s tourist guide, it is a natural spot with beautiful grasslands, but

looking at the whole scene from near the station made us feel disappointing.

There seems to be a movement with the participation of local airlines to register this spot under the Ramsar Convention.

The spots I had previously seen from the air on their plane were almost unbearable to look at.

You can experience how it is looked like from the air by using Google Map.

We can’t help but wonder if airlines that see such a true state of affairs every day seriously think they can register under the Ramsar Convention.

Come to think of it, there are mountains in Chichibu, the Kanto region and that are in a similar situation.

The name of the mountain is Mt. Bukō. It was once revered as a mountain of the gods, but now half of it has been scraped away. ( Please refer the mountain by the Google Map too. )

One is willing for Ramsar, another used be the Mountain that enshrines the god, Yamato Takeru.

We are disappointed in the narrow perspective of Japanese people who try not to see the destroyed environment and only see the good.

都合のいい日本人の視野の狭さ

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

ローカル線で向かった市内南部。

結局、そこからの交通手段がなくて行くことを諦めたゲストさん。

彼らの行きたかった場所を遠目に望んでみました。

市の観光ガイドでは美しい草原のひろがる自然スポットですが、

その全容を駅の近くから眺めると、、、

ちょっとがっかりします。

地元の航空会社も参画して、このスポットをラムサール条約に登録しようという動きもあるようですが、、、

以前、その飛行機に乗って空から眺めたスポットは、ちょっと見るに耐えませんでした。

（その様子はGoogle Mapの航空写真モードで体験することができます。）

そんな本当の姿を毎日のように眺めている航空会社が本気でラムサール条約に登録できると思っているのか、不思議でたまりません。

そういえば、ここに似た状況の山が関東、秩父にもあります。

山の名は「武甲山」。神の山と崇められてきたのに今やその半分は削り取られています。（こちらもGoogle Mapで是非ご覧ください。）

片やラムサール、片や日本武尊を祀る山。

破壊されている環境は見ないようにして、良いところしか見ようとしない私たち日本人の視野の狭さにガッカリします。
