Japanese Title (邦題)： 「わたしの英雄達！」末尾に
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
I might be sorry for certain people, but I have a real heroes who saved my life.
More precisely, they saved my parents’ life in their childhood.
The certain people were the people in Nagasaki.
The Heroes were the employees of Yahata Steel Works.
The time they saved my parents’ life was summer, 71 years ago.
According to documentary records, the bomber “Bockscar” loaded an atomic bomb “Fat Man” directed to their 1st Target, Kokura. However, smart employees of Yahata Steel Works, who have alerted themselves after Hiroshima’s tragedy, started to burn tar with the news bomber approaching to North Kyushu. Around 10am on August 9th, 1945, Bockscar arrived but could not find the 1st target, Kokura, because of the smokes, and flew to Nagasaki.
Now, from TOUKA, we can see the sky above Kokura, where “Bockscar”(bomber of “Fat Man”) strayed for target 71years ago.
(Fat Man was exploded at the height of 503m. As height of Mt. Sarakura, highest mountain in the picture, is 622 m, we can imagine it might be exploded on the line between TOUKA and Mt. Sarakura, above Kokura, where a lot of buildings are standing in the picture.)
From the tourism point of view, Kokura is not so popular as Hiroshima and Nagasaki. So I seriously thanks to the heroes of Yahata Steel Works. If they did not burn the tar, Kokura can be more famous but I am not here on the earth.
I cannot express my thanks aloud, because of my sorry feeling to Nagasaki, so I avoid August to post this article.
When we watch Kokura from TOUKA, Nagasaki is locating same direction more over. So coming 11:02am Aug.9, I will pray at Lighthouse next to TOUKA, watching Nagasaki via Kokura. Pray for eternal world peace, with thanks to my heroes, used to work in Yahata Steel Works, as whom I want to be making smart & timely action.

「わたしの英雄達！」
自分には命の恩人ともいえる英雄がいます。ただこの話をするにあたり、申し訳ないと思わなければならない ある特定の人達がいることも確かです。
より正確にいうと、彼らはわたしではなく、当時子供だった両親の命を救ってくれたのです。
特定の人達とは 長崎の人たち で、
その英雄とは 当時の八幡製鐵所の従業員の方々 、
両親の命が救われたのは、今から71年前の夏のことです。
歴史の記録によると、その日 原子爆弾「ファットボーイ」を搭載した爆撃機「ボックスカー」は第一目標点の小倉を目指していました。 ところが広島の悲劇から警戒モードだった八幡製鐵所の従業員がいち早く爆撃機接近の情報を得て、タールを燃やし現在の北九州の上空に煙幕を張ったそうです。 1945年8月9日 10:00AM頃上空に到着したボックスカーは煙のために結局、第一目標点の小倉を確認できずに長崎に向かったとのことです。
現在「灯火」から、原子爆弾爆撃機ボックスカーがさまよった小倉上空がよく見えます。
（原爆ファットマンは上空503mで炸裂したそうです。 画像の中の一番高い山、皿倉山の高さが622mなので、ここから皿倉山を結ぶ線上、画像の中の高いビル群のある小倉の上空で原爆が炸裂した可能性があったことを想像できます。）
観光的な視点からみると、現在 小倉は広島や長崎ほど有名な場所ではありません。 それは八幡製鐵所にいたヒーローのおかげであり、真面目にそのことを感謝しています。 もしも彼らがタイムリーにタールを燃やさなかったら、小倉はもっと有名な町になったかもしれませんが、わたしは間違いなくこの地上に生まれてくることはなかったと確信するからです。
長崎のことを思うと、この感謝の気持ちを大きな声でいうことはできません。 そのため8月になる前のこの時期に、この感謝について記事にしました。
「灯火」から小倉を望むと、その延長線上に長崎の町があるようです。久しぶりに北九州で迎える8月9日の11:02am は「灯火」上の灯台から小倉、その先の長崎の方角に向かって、世界平和を祈願したいと考えています。 自らも見習うべき賢明さを持った当時の製鉄マンたちへの感謝にあわせて、、、
