Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

A recent trend among our guests is that more and more people are spending special occasions at this guesthouse.

Is it because we have changed our style of OMOTENASHI (=hospitality) in response of the post-COVID?

This was unexpected for us, but we are grateful and very happy about it.

To make guests’ stay even more special, we get high motivation even more rewarding to provide hospitality!

We have expanded our range of plans and props to cater to each guest’s special occasions.

We hope all potential guests will feel at ease when choosing our accommodation, knowing that we may even have some unexpected surprises along the way.

Upside down!

The host recommends observing the damage caused by tornadoes and earthquakes and the recovery process, and using that knowledge to improve our own future crisis management and response strategies.

But that doesn’t mean we can only learn from disaster-stricken areas.

I saw a terrible scene in my town last week.

This is the first time I’ve seen something like this on a public road.

Witnessing the horror of the incident firsthand, I thought to myself, “I want to drive safely…”

1. Always fasten your seat belt.

2. Avoid unnecessary lane changes and speeding.

3. Anticipate possible risks along the way.

These and other things remind me of the importance of safe driving.

上下さかさまっ！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

竜巻や震災の被災状況や復興する姿を見て、自分自身の将来の危機管理や対応策に活かしていくことを推奨する宿主ですが、、、

別に被災地からだけしか学べないわけではありません。

先週、おいらの街で、こんな光景を見ました。

一般道でこんな状態になっているのを見たのは初めてです。

現場の凄まじさを目の当たりにして、自分自身について、、、

１、シートベルトはしっかりしめよう

２、不要な進路変更、スピード超過は慎もう

３、進行方向で起こりえるリスクを予測して運転しよう

などなど、安全運転を心がけようと改めて思いました。

人の振り見て我が振り直せ！の精神で、戒めを自らに取り込んで心構えとしたいとおもいます。

それでは、常に他人を見て学ぶ素敵な一日を！

原点へ、、、/ Back to the origin…

Back to the origin…

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

The host was finally able to visit a place he had wanted to visit for 30 years.

That place is…

It could be said to be the origin of modern-day damage caused by major natural disasters in Japan.

At the time of the disaster, I was in the final stages of preparing to be dispatched to the United States, and headed there immediately.

I remember feeling very sorry when I saw the situation in the disaster-stricken areas on TV in the airport lounge.

Perhaps it was because of the guilt I felt at that time that I began to travel to areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and several other natural disasters to carry out volunteer work.

More than 30 years have passed since the disaster, and it is difficult to find any traces of the disaster in the city, so I decided to walk around the few remaining remains of the disaster.

It was truly a day of pilgrimage, visiting sacred sites of the earthquake disaster.

What struck me about touring the area this time was…

The town, which suffered devastating damage at the time, has since rebuilt despite its problems.

The strength of this symbol of recovery!

And there was a sense of desolation permeating the entire town, reflecting the fact that 30 years have passed since 1995, when was counted as zero to start recovery.

It got me thinking about how we should move on to the next stage after the earthquake recovery.

原点へ、、、

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

三十年間、ずっと行ってみたかった場所を宿主はようやく訪ねることができました。

その場所とは、、、

現代、日本の巨大自然災害による被災の原点とも言える場所です。

発災当時、自分はアメリカへの赴任準備が佳境を迎えていて、そのまま渡米。

空港のラウンジのテレビで見る被災地の状況に、とても申し訳ない気持ちを持ったことを記憶しています。

あの時に感じた後ろめたさのせいでしょうか、その後に起きた東日本大震災や、いくつかの自然災害の被災地ボへランティア活動に行くようになったように思います。

あの災害から、３０年以上が経過し、震災当時の面影を街の中で見つけ出すのは困難で、わずかに残された震災遺構を歩いて巡ってみました。

それはまさに聖地巡り、震災聖地を巡る一日でした。

今回、実際にまわってみて、印象的だったのは、、、

当時、壊滅的な被害を受けた町が、問題を抱えながらもしっかり復興してきたこと。

その復興のシンボルの力強さ！

そして、１９９５年をゼロとし、そこから一斉に３０年が経年してきたことによる街全体に漂う寂れ感でした。

震災復興から次のステージへ、、、どう対処すべきか考えさせられました。
