Leaving one and coming one
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
I was surprised when I stopped on the opposite side of the strait on my way back from Tokyo in the middle of this month.
I believe the guesthouse, which opened a little later than ours in the same year, seems deserted.
After asking the tourist information people at the market and doing an internet search, it seems that it closed on December 15th.
And not this year, but last December!
It is super surprising that the facility got off to a spectacular start with the aim of revitalizing the town on the opposite side and with support from the wife of the murdered former prime minister.
Huh? I wonder what will happen to the town revitalization on the other side of the strait?
Our guesthouse has decided that “we will not/cannot revitalize the town,” but even though it’s none of our business, we are worried about it.
Is it really difficult to run a guesthouse here?
As a result, we realized that although our guesthouse is ultra small, it has become by far the oldest guesthouse in this Kanmon area.
Well, under these circumstances, instead of the guesthouse that was gone, a facilityl came to Kanmon is…
this one!
It seems to open with great fanfare on December 11th of this month, almost a year after the previous facility closed.
Furthermore, on this side of the strait, a new facility being prepared for opening by the same group is beginning to take shape.
Two of Japan’s leading, powerfully funded accommodation facilities are opening on both sides of the strait!
We may not be able to compete with them in terms of business size, the amount of money to spend, or the number of staff, but we are by no means inferior in terms of the quality of our hospitality and guest satisfaction. So we vow at the end of 2025 to keep capturing the hearts of our guests with our own unique approach and methods.

ゆくもの、くるもの
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
今月中旬、東京からの帰路途中で対岸に立ち寄ってびっくりしました。
たしか当宿より少し遅れて同じ年に開業したハズのゲストハウスが閑散としているではないですか？
市場の観光案内の人に聞いたり、ネットで検索してみたところ、どうも12月15日に閉館しちゃったみたいです。
それも今年ではなくて、昨年の12月に！
対岸の町おこしを前面に掲げて、殺害された元総理の妻から当時支援も得ることで華やかなるスタートを切った施設だけに驚きです。
えっ？対岸の町おこしってどうなるんだろう？
「町おこしはしない／できない」と決めている当宿ですが、他人事ながら心配になりました。
やっぱりここでの施設運営って難しいのかなぁ？
これにより、ここ関門エリアではちいさいながらも当宿がダントツの古参ゲストハウスとなってしまったことに気付いてしまいました。
さて、こうした状況下、逝ってしまったこちらに対して、やってきたのが、、、
こちら！
先の施設閉館のほぼ一年後となる今月12月11日に華々しくオープンしたようです。
さらには海峡のこちら岸でも同一グループであらたに開業準備している施設がその全容を表し始めています。
日本を代表する大手・強力資本の宿泊施設が海峡の両岸で開業！
そのビジネスサイズや、かけてるお金や、スタッフの人数では全くかないませんが、「おもてなしの質」と「ゲストの満足度」では決して負けていないし、これからも独自路線・独自サイズでゲストさんたちの心を掴んでいこうとあらためて心に誓う2025年の年末です。
それでは、まずは自らが誰よりも楽しむことでそれをシェアする素敵な一日を！
