What the host has wanted to see
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
The host doesn’t think he probably visited the place when he came to this city 37 years ago,
and even if he had, the exhibits would have been very different from what they are now.
This is what the host has wanted to see for the past decade!
This city has a very strong connection to the city where he was born and raised, so this is the connection.
The main reason of his visit is
that he wants to understand how these relationships are explained and what exactly happened 80 years ago in this town.
When I saw images of the city completely destroyed, I couldn’t help but overlap that scene with my hometown, and I felt that this was the right reaction of Kitakyushu people.
Given the current situation, many students, who appeared to be on a school trip, were touring the museum and taking notes intently,
and I strongly felt that this city should also be a destination for school trips for students from Kitakyushu.
( By the way, when I was in elementary, junior high, or high school, we never came to this city on school trips. )

宿主が見たかったもの
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
多分、37年前にこの街に来た時には多分訪れてなかったと思うし、
訪れていたとしても、その展示は今とはずいぶんと違っていたはず。
そんな宿主がここ十数年ずっと見たかったものが、これっ！
自分が生まれ育った街と、とても関係が深いこの街は、コレ繋がり。
そうした関係がどのように解説されていて、
８０年前この街でいったい何が起きたのかをきちんと理解したかったというのが最大の理由。
すべてが破壊された街の様子を画像で確認した際には、その情景と我が故郷とをオーバーラップさせずにはいられなくなるのが正しい北九州気質だと感じました。
時節柄、資料館には修学旅行と思しき大勢の学生が真剣にメモを取りながら見学していましたが、
北九州っ子の修学旅行の行き先もこの街にすべきだと強く思いました。
ちなみに自分の頃は、小学校も、中学校も、高校でも、この街に修学旅行に来ることはありませんでした。
それでは、今、自分がここにこうしていられる理由を知る素敵な一日を！
