The town that was hit by one of the largest tornadoes in Japan’s recorded history has more to offer than just a roadside station!
It is about this guy!
Who are we talking about?
Lord Tanuma Okitsugu!
Yes, he is the person who has been making waves in the NHK’s historical drama currently airing.
The city museum has set up a special exhibition space related to the drama, and is extremely welcoming to tourists.
I also visited Sukeozan Heitaji Temple, a magnificent temple that is the family temple of the Tanuma family.
Unfortunately, the weather was bad on the day I visited, so there were no other tourists, but it seems that there has been many people visiting there on weekends.
We wish there were some in our town too… stories and tales related to historical dramas and popular Manga/Anime!

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
国内の統計史上最大級の竜巻が襲来した町には、道の駅だけはなくさらにキテます！
それはこちらのお方！
誰かと言うと、、、、
田沼意次侯！
そう現在放映中の大河ドラマで話題を呼んだお方です。
市の資料館にはドラマに関する特別展示スペースが設けられ、観光客「超」ウェルカムモード。
田沼家の菩提寺でもある立派なお寺、吸江山 平田寺にも行ってみました。
自分が訪れた日はあいにくの空模様で、他の観光客はいらっしゃいませんでしたが、週末などには結構人がきているようです。
おいらの町にも欲しいですね、、、大河ドラマや人気マンガ・アニメゆかりのストーリー・物語！

P.S. こちらの田沼意次侯の像、ドラマと照らし合わせると、どちらかというとライバルの松平定信の方に似ている気がするのは自分だけでしょうか？
