The world without nuclear weapon, 1945
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
In Japan, the coming week will be a very important period in the year for praying for peace, as we move from anti-nuclear sentiment to the anniversary of defeat in the war.
Of course, we Japanese wish for a world without nuclear weapons!
During this hot summer, I suddenly had a thought.
What if, by any chance, nuclear weapons had never existed that summer, what if Oppenheimer had failed in his project,
what happened in the Pacific War?
what would Hiroshima and Nagasaki have become like after the war?
what kind of lives did those who died from atomic bomb or radiation exposure lead afterwards?
Five years ago, people would have laughed at me for saying such an impossible thing, but…
now we have a very useful tool called AI.
I would like to see AI learn as much data as possible from that time, simulate the end of the war without the use of nuclear weapons, and the post-war period, and then publish and share the results internationally (perhaps exhibiting them at the Peace Memorial Museum).
However, if the United States or other countries were to try this, it would surely cause a variety of problems and repercussions, so I would like Japan to try it using AI developed in Japan and the Japanese supercomputer Fugaku.
Key words include what happened on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the decisive battle for the mainland, when the Pacific War ended, the number of Japanese and American war dead (soldiers and civilians separately), Japan’s territory after the war (taking into account the Soviet Union’s entry into the war), etc.
I believe it would be worthwhile to let the world know the results of this simulation, showing how much the atomic bomb made the situation worse, and how peacefully the war would have ended if the atomic bomb had not been dropped.
This simple question, “What if there hadn’t been nuclear weapons back then?”
I hope Japan can overcome the fear that this may become a Pandora’s box for the Japanese people and come up with an answer.

核兵器のない世界 〜 1945年
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
日本ではさらにこれから一週間、反核からの敗戦記念日への流れで、平和を祈念する一年でもとても重要な期間になります。
もちろん、我々日本人の願いは「核兵器のない世界」！
そんな暑い暑い今年の夏、ふと思いました。
もし万が一、そもそもあの夏、核兵器がなかったら、、オッペンハイマーがプロジェクトに失敗していたなら、、、
太平洋戦争はどうなったでしょう？
広島・長崎は敗戦時どんな街になっていたでしょう？
被曝死された方々はその後どんな生活をなされたでしょう？
５年前なら、そんな無理な話を言って馬鹿じゃないの、と笑われたでしょうが、、、
しかし今、我々にはAIというとても便利なツールがあります。
AIにできる限りの当時のデータを学習させて核兵器未使用の戦争終結と戦後とをシミュレーションし、その結果を国際的に公表・共有（平和記念資料館で展示？）してほしいのです。
ただ、これをアメリカを始め、諸外国がやるときっといろいろな問題・波紋が広がるに違いないので、是非日本が、日本の開発したAIで、日本のスーパーコンピュータ「富岳」でも使って、やってもらいたいです。
その際、キーワードは、広島・長崎のその後、本土決戦、太平洋戦争終結の時期、日米の戦没者数（兵士と民間人を分けて）、戦後の日本の領土（ソ連参戦も考慮して）、などなど。
どれだけ原爆が事態を悪化させたのか、原爆投下がなければどれだけ平和理に戦争が終わったのか、そのシミュレーション結果を世界に知らしめる価値はあると思います。
この素朴な問い、「そもそもあの時、核兵器が無かったら」、、、
日本人にとってのパンドラの箱となるかもしれない恐怖に打ち勝って、日本にその答えを出してもらいたいです。
