Something we can find here that you can’t find in Tokyo!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Tokyo, the largest city in Japan.

There are a lot of people, and the number of foreign tourists is also incomparable to here.

There are lots of delicious and new foods, and as long as you have money you can eat anything tasty.

Department stores and luxury brand shops line the streets, and there are many beautifully dressed gentlemen and ladies.

There are many office buildings and high-rise apartments, and a lot of wealthy people. The number of luxury cars driving around the city is also extraordinary.

However,

you can’t see the sunset over the sea in Tokyo, unless you go to neighboring Chiba or Kanagawa.

Unfortunately, there may not be as many people on the beach as the suburbs of Tokyo, but why not end the day quietly watching a sunset like this?

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。おはようございます。

日本で一番の大都市東京。

人がいっぱいいて、ガイジン観光客もココとは比べものにならないくらい多い。

美味しくて、目新しい食べ物もいっぱいあって、お金さえあれば旨いもんがなんでも食べられる。

百貨店や高級ブランドのお店が軒を並べ、素敵な装いの紳士淑女が大勢。

オフィスビルやタワマンもたくさん建っていて、お金持ちも大勢。街を走る高級車も桁違いに多い。

でも、、、

海に沈む夕陽は見れません。お隣の千葉や神奈川に行かないと、、、

残念ながら東京近郊のように、海辺に大勢人はいないかもしれませんが、静かにこんな夕陽を眺めながら一日を終えるのはいかがでしょう？

Swallow city’s pride to be a beloved city!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

We really appreciate the events that our city has been working on recently, but…

it’s actually a very sad city.

We would like to point out that there is a fundamental aspect to success as a tourist city, and that there is something about our city that makes inbound guests cry.

Because just the other day, a solo female inbound guest experienced discomfort and anxiety while walking around this city.

The place where she had this unpleasant experience was just southwest near Kokura Station.

We think that it is an area that female staff at the city’s tourism bureau would never approach.

However, there is no such information on the tourist maps distributed at tourist information centers.

If they plan to walk along the river from the station to the castle, the city’s biggest tourist spot, they will inevitably pass through this area.

I think the girls were probably approached by the black suits(?) to recruit them into that industry.

If they are looked at or spoken to in such a lewd manner while traveling abroad, it will definitely leave them with a bad impression of the city.

Rather than ignoring this issue by saying, “I know about the place, so I’m not going there,” we hope that effective ways of raising awareness will be considered and implemented so that young girls who want to enjoy strolling around town in K-POP style don’t have any unpleasant experiences.

From a government perspective, they may not want to expose their shameful side on this fun map, but this is an important part of “OMOTENASHI (hospitality)”.

By the way, we think the pink shame area of this city is not limited to the Kyo-machi/Sendou-machi area…

恥を忍んで、好かれる街に！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。おはようございます。

「おいらの街」がここのところ取り組んでいるイベントについては大いに評価しているのですが、、、

実はとっても残念な街でもあるんです。

観光都市として成功するための根本的なところで、インバウンド・ゲスト泣かせなところが「おいらの街」にあることを指摘しておきます。

なぜなら先日また、インバウンドの女性一人旅ゲストさんが、この街を歩いていて不快な・不安な思いをしたからです。

彼女がそんな嫌な体験をしたのは、小倉駅のすぐ西南西の一角。

その一角は、市観光局の女性スタッフであれば、決して近づくことのないエリアだと思います。

ただ、ツーリストインフォメーション・観光案内所で配布される観光マップにはそうした記載はまったくなくて、

駅から市内最大の観光スポット「お城」に行くために、川沿いを歩いて行ってみようと考えると、必然的にそのエリアを通ってしまうことになります。

彼女たちは、おそらくその業界への勧誘の声かけを黒服さん(?)にされたんだろうと思います。

海外旅行中にそうしたいやらしい目で見られる、声をかけられられたりすると、間違いなく街に対する印象は悪くなります。

この問題、自分は知っとぉから行かんし、と無視するのではなく、K-POPスタイルで楽しく街を散策したい彼女たちが嫌な思いをしないで済むように、上手に注意喚起する方法を検討・実施してもらいたいですね。

お役所的には楽しい地図上に恥部を晒したくないのかもしれませんが、ここ重要な「お・も・て・な・し」です。

ちなみに、街のピンクな恥部は京町・船頭町の一角だけではないと思いますが、、、

おいらの街の心意気！ / The spirit of our city!

The spirit of our city!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

The event that was held here in our city until last Sunday was unexpectedly photogenic,

so we would like to recommend it more actively to guests next year, and so we would like to introduce this in a little more detail.

I have heard from the news that Bon Dance themed events have been held all over Japan in recent years and have been very well-received,

but I had no idea that one has also been held in our hometown, Kitakyushu.

This was the second year the event has been held, following last year, and this year it has been expanded to 10 consecutive days (9 days in 2024).

And what stood out that day was…

*a large tower

*and a large group of locals dance around it.

*stalls selling all kinds of festival food and

*more food wagons than we had expect.

*a road of 2,000 lanterns leads citizens to the festival site.

(Last year, there were 500 lanterns, so this is a big expansion. Each lantern has a prestigious sponsor’s name, which shows the strength of this city.)

*And above all, the city hall’s attitude of thoroughly supporting these events with “lightening “祭 festival” letter on it!

(I haven’t seen many other local governments try to promote events like this.)

*Also, both children and adults were delighted by the rice cake-like candy throwing…

*I thought it was a great event that perfectly matched with beer during the scorching summer heat.

(It was an enjoyable event that was just as good as the Christmas market at the end of last year.)

It was disappointing to see so few adults wearing YUKATA, let alone children, but I hope foreign tourists will participate in the event wearing YUKATA.

おいらの街の心意気！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。おはようございます。

ここ「おいらの街」でこの日曜日まで開催されたイベントが、思いのほかフォトジェニックだったこともあり、来年はもっと積極的にゲストさんにオススメしたいと感じたので、もう少し詳しく紹介します。

近年、日本各地で「盆踊り」をテーマにしたイベントが開催されて好評を得ていることはニュース等で知っていたのですが、

それが、おいらの街北九州でも開催されていることを、実は知りませんでした。

昨年に続く２年目の開催だそうで、今年は１０日間連続開催に拡大されたようです（2024年は9日間）。

そしてその日、映えていたのは、、、

大型の櫓に、

その周囲を踊って回る大勢のジモティ達。

各種、お祭りフードの露店に、

想像以上の台数が集結したフードワゴン。

祭り会場まで市民をいざなう2,000個の提灯ロード。

（去年は500個だったようで、大幅な規模拡大。どの提灯にもそうそうたるスポンサーが付いているところにこの街の底力を感じます。）

そして、なによりもこうしたイベントを徹底的にサポートしようとする市役所の姿勢！

（こんな手法でイベントを盛り上げようとする地方自治体は他にはあまり見たことないですね。）

また、餅まきのようなお菓子ばらまきには子供も大人も大喜びで、、、

やっぱり猛暑の夏に、◯◯◯がとっても似合う良いイベントだと思いました。

（昨年末のクリスマスマーケットに勝るとも劣らない楽しめるイベントでした。）

見ていて、子供はともかく大人で浴衣の方が少なかったのが残念ですが、ガイジン観光客には是非浴衣で参加してほしいですね。
