A large fireworks festival is scheduled for mid-month.
It seems that preparations are underway all over this area for the region’s biggest summer event.
It is the only festival in Japan that is held across a prefectural border and separated by a strait, with a total of 18,000 fireworks launched on both sides, from Moji on this side to Shimonoseki on the other side.
According to the organizers, the event will be one of the largest in western Japan.
Preparations are being made by the executive committees on both sides of the strait, and I got hold a flyer from the other side that said the event will be different from last year, so I took a look and…
found that the drone’s performance, which was introduced at an odd time last year and somehow lost some of its excitement, is being re-programed this year before the fireworks are launched.
Even more thankfully, the number of fireworks launched on the Shimonoseki side has increased significantly! (Maybe there were some fireworks left over from last year’s drone performance time?)
Due to the nature of the strait, the activities on the other side are reflected in the view from here, so we are really looking forward to August 13th this summer.
(*It’s difficult to see the fireworks at Mojiko from here, so our guests will probably be heading out to Mojiko.)
The staff who will be staying here on the day will be looking forward to enjoying the fireworks launched from Shimonoseki.

ちょっと期待っ！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
今月中旬に予定されている大花火大会。
日本で唯一海峡を隔て、県境を越えて開催され、こちら側の門司と対岸の下関、両岸合計で1万8000発ものが打ち上げられます。
主催者側に言わせるとその規模は西日本最大級とのこと。
準備は両岸それぞれの実行委員会で進められており、昨年とは趣向が変わるという対岸側のチラシが手に入ったので、目を通したところ、、、
どうも昨年妙なタイミングで導入されてなんとなく盛り下がったドローンのパフォーマンスが花火打ち上げ前に組み込み直されているようです。
さらにありがたいことに、下関側の花火打ち上げ数が大幅に増加！（昨年のドローン時間分の花火が余ったのかな？）
海峡という特性から、対岸の取り組みがそのままここからの景色に反映されるので、今年の8月13日がとても楽しみです。
（＊ここからは門司港での花火が見えにくいので、ゲストさんはおそらく門司港に出かけるかな。）
当日ここでお留守番するスタッフは下関での打ち上げ分を楽しみたいと思います。
