A live broadcast of the Diet
a debate between party leaders was being aired.
As I was watching it, I noticed a certain word that made me feel very uncomfortable.
What felt strange was not the content of the debate, but the opening greeting from the opposition leader.
He said “A night debate…” What? A night game!
Even though it’s so bright outside??
The greeting was exchanged just after 6pm, but here it was bright outside the window and I felt very out of place.
In fact, sunset here was around 7:30 that day.
After some research, I found out that night games at the town’s municipal baseball stadium start at 6:30, and even at moments like this, the difference in daylight hours compared to the central area is noticeable.
As I watched the sun sink into the other side, I realized that it was already dark in Tokyo.

国会討論での違和感
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
今週水曜日、ゲストさんのお戻りを待ちながらふとテレビを見ると、、、
国会中継
党首討論が放映されていました。
それとはなく見ていると、ある言葉に強い違和感を覚えました。
何に違和感かというと、討論内容についてではなくて、野党党首の最初の挨拶。
ナイター討論、、、え？ナイター！
こんなに明るいのに？？
その挨拶が交わされたのが、夕方６時過ぎ。でもここでは窓の外は煌々と明るいし、すごく違和感を感じたんです。
実際、その日の入りは７時半頃でした。
調べたところ、この町の市民球場ではナイター開始は６時半らしく、こうした瞬間にも中央との日照時間の違いを感じてしまいます。
つるべ落としに沈む夕陽を眺めながら、東京はもう暗いんだなぁとしみじみ思いました。
