I went to the Expo, Tower of the Sun!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

This year’s Golden Week has finally entered the second half.

The host’s trip to and from Tokyo ahead of Golden Week, the sudden increase in the number of Gaijin wasn’t the only thing he saw.

On his way home, he stopped off at… 

the World Expo!

However it was not the Reiwa Expo, but the Showa Expo.

There is no way that a host who hates crowds the most would go to such a high-profile event that has just opened.

I’d always seen Expo Park from afar at the Suita junction, but this time I decided to visit it.

Although I only had about two hours to stop by,

but seeing the Tower of the Sun for the first time was overwhelming.

The tower standing tall against the blue sky made me feel as if I was deriving a mysterious energy from it.

Wanting to soak in the afterglow for a while, I took a break at the food stand nearby while looking at the tower.

Thanks to this, I was able to have valuable time to refresh both my body and soul.

I think more people will be going to Osaka to see the Reiwa Expo, but I also recommend the Showa Expo.

「万博行ってみた！」

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

今年のゴールデンウィークもいよいよ後半に入りましたね。

ゴールデンウィークに先駆けて、行ってきた東京への行き帰りで見てきたのは急激に増殖しているガイジンだけではありません。

帰路に立ち寄ったのは、、、

万博！

とはいっても、令和の万博ではなく、昭和の万博です。

人混みを最も嫌う宿主が、開会したばかりの注目のイベントに行くハズがありません。

いつもは吹田のジャンクションで遠目に見て気になっていた万博公園を今回実際に訪ねてみました。

全体の旅程から、立ち寄り時間は２時間ほどしかありませんでしたが、

初めて対面する太陽の塔は圧巻でした。

青空をバックにそびえる塔からは、不思議なエネルギーを得た気分になりました。

しばらくその余韻に浸りたくて、すぐ横のフードスタンドで塔を見ながらしばらく休憩。

おかげで心身ともにリフレッシュする貴重な時間を得ることができました。

これから令和の万博を見に、大阪にいかれる方も増えると思いますが、昭和の万博もオススメですよ。

Learn from Gaijins’ mistakes

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

In my previous article, I talked about the outrageous behavior of inbound tourists, but…

The truth is, it’s not just Gaijins who are outrageous.

For example, an incident that occurred in the parking space of a spectacular observation deck.

As mentioned earlier, there are only eight parking spaces available, one of which is a disabled parking space.

I understand the frustration of having to line up to park, but this seems a bit against the rules.

Or perhaps the sporty old man who arrived in an open-top car had a disability somewhere?

After the convertible left, the car with the handicapped sign was finally able to park…

But… wait a minute!

This means that the tailgate of the car can’t be opened.

This vehicle did not seem to be like that, but if it had been a rear-gate type vehicle for transporting wheelchair-bound people, it would have been a problem.

We should always be careful to act in a way that does not cause trouble to anyone.

And finally, an unbelievable situation!

While I was relieving myself in a public restroom at one tourist spot, I heard the sound of a loud gargle and the sounds of an old man sobbing coming from the ladies’ room next door.

I was curious, so I went outside to take a look, and a man in a suit (presumably) Japanese came out from the ladies’ room.

It is important to always be careful not to be suspected of violating local nuisance ordinances.

ガイ人のふり見て我が振りなおせ

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

先の記事でインバウンド観光客の目に余る行為を話題にしてみましたが、、、

実のところ、目にあまる行為はガイジンだけではありません。

例えば、絶景展望台の駐車スペース。

８台分しか駐車する枠がないことは先に述べましたが、そのうち一つは障害者用駐車スペース。

行列をなして駐車待ちしているのはわかりますが、ちょっとコレは掟破りでしょう。

もしくは颯爽とオープンカーで乗りつけたスポーティなオジさんはどこかに障害でもあるのかな？

そのオープンカーが出て行った後に、ようやく駐車できた障害者マーク付きの車ですが、、、

ちょっと待った！

これではリアゲートが開けれません。

こちらの車はそうではないようでしたが、リアゲート式の車椅子障碍者の搬送車だったら困りものです。

誰かの迷惑になっていないか、常に注意して行動したいものです。

そして最後に信じられない状況を！

観光地の公衆トイレで用を足していると、隣の女子トイレから太いうがいの音とおっさん系の嗚咽音が聞こえてきました。

気になったので、ちょっと外で見ていると、出てきたのはスーツ姿の（おそらく）日本人。

各地の迷惑禁止条例違反を疑われないよう、常に気をつけたいものです。

Because of outrageous situations!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Waves of foreigners are flocking to popular tourist destinations in the Kanto, Kansai, and Chubu regions.

The host is trying to experience and understand the situation as alert by actually being exposed to the waves that will sooner or later hit the countryside.

We refer to inbound tourists as Gaijin as a sign of respect and affection, much like how elementary school students might call them, so please understand that we do so with respect and affection.

Although we foreigners watch over them with such respect, sometimes we come across outrageous situations.

For example, a pond that would normally be filled with clear spring water.

It is now overflowing with a staggering number of coins.

As I was living in Yamanashi 35 years ago, so I understand that there were some coins there at the time, but

when I saw the current situation with my own eyes, I felt very sad and disappointed.

And then there’s this view…

Small Asian Gaijins jumps onto a branch of cherry blossoms, which have finally bloomed due to the high altitude, and pulls flowers towards them for a photo!

The situation was so outrageous that, as someone working in the tourism industry, I warned the man who seemed to be a tour guide who was standing nearby.

At first, the man was smiling and talking to the two old and small women as subjects, so it seems he didn’t even seem to be concerned about this condition.

Speaking of cherry blossoms, they are the national flower of our country.

It is heartbreaking to see this country’s flower, which has finally bloomed, being treated so roughly that it loses many petals that are not yet ready to fall.

This isn’t the case with our guests, but Gaijin tourists since the COVID-19 outbreak are different from those before, 

and I really feel that they greatly lack respect for this country, culture, and people.

I hope that my fellow proud Japanese people, when you encounter an outrageous situation, will also have the courage and kindness to teach such Gaijins.

ちょっと目にあまる状況だったので

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

関東、関西、中部地方の代表的な観光地に押し寄せるガイジンの波。

遅かれ早かれ地方にも押し寄せるアラートとして実際に触れておくことで、体感〜理解しようとしている宿主です。

インバウンドの観光客を、あえてガイジンと呼ぶのは、小学生がそう呼ぶ的な感覚で敬意と愛着をこめた結果ですので悪しからず、ご理解ください。

さて、そんなふうに敬意をもって見守っているガイジンですが、時に目にあまる状況を目にします。

例えば、本来であれば、澄んだ湧き水で溢れる池。

それが今やおびたたしい数の硬貨で溢れています。

３５年前に山梨に住んでいた記憶から、当時そこにコインが全くなかったわけではないということは理解しますが、

今回、実際に現状を目の当たりにして、とても悲しく残念に思いました。

そして、さらにはこんな光景も、、、

高地ゆえにやっと咲いたさくらの花を、枝に飛びついてたぐり寄せ記念撮影するアジア系の背の低いガイジンさん！

ちょっと目に余る状態だったので、観光業に携わる立場からも、そのそばにいた添乗員と思わしき男に花は掴まないように注意しました。

当初、その男は笑顔で被写体二名に話かけていたので、この状態を気にすらしていなかったのではないかと思われます。

さくらといえば、、、我が国の国花。

ようやく咲いたこの国の花を乱暴に扱い、そのせいでまだ散る状態ではない花びらが何枚も散っていくのを見るのは忍びありません。

当宿のゲストさんにはありませんが、コロナ以降のガイジン観光客はそれ以前の方たちとは異なり、

この国や、文化、人間に対しての敬意が大いに欠けているなぁ、とつくづく思う今日この頃です。

誇り高き同志、にっぽん人の皆さんも、目に余る状況に出会した時には、勇気を持ってガイジンさんたちに親切に教えてあげてほしいと思います。
