What a shame Japanese people!
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
On Sunday, I was returning from some shopping and when I got close to here, I saw a number of red lights flashing.
It looked like they were blocking the national road and conducting an inspection. (The deterrent power decreases if the location can be identified, so the camera is deliberately shaken.)
18 years have passed since that accident (incident?).

I was in Tokyo at the time of the accident, and I was shocked by the tragic news.
I also remember feeling embarrassed because the accident happened in my hometown of Fukuoka Prefecture.
Since that accident, every time before I start to drink, I say to myself, “I’m not going to drive for more than half a day,” even though I don’t drink so often.
It seems that a strong deterrent and self-control force is working within me.
However, when I look at the news, I see that drunk driving is increasing in this prefecture!
What embarrassing citizens! Even across the country, it seems that the number of arrests has not yet fallen completely.
Even with stricter penalties, there seems to be a negative effect, such as an increase in hit-and-runs, so I think innovative measures are needed, such as offering rewards for reporting DUI.

哀しいかな、学習しないにっぽん人
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
日曜日、用事から戻る途中近くまで戻ってくるといくつもの赤色灯の点滅。
どうも国道を封鎖して検問している様子でした。（場所を特定できると抑止力低下するのでワザと手ブレ）
そういえば、あの事故（事件？）から18年が経過したそうです。

事故当時、自分は東京にいたのですが、あまりのショッキングなニュースにとても驚きました。
それもふるさとの福岡県で起きたことに恥ずかしく感じたことを記憶しています。
あの事故以降、回数こそ少ないですが、お酒を手にするたびに「これから半日以上運転することはないな」と自問してから飲むようになりました。
自分の中では強い抑止力が働いているようです。
ところが、ニュースを見るとなんと県内では飲酒運転が増えているではないですか！
なんとも恥ずかしい県民ですよね。全国で見ても検挙数はまだまだ下がりきれていないようです。
厳罰化してもひき逃げが増えるなど負の作用が働くようなので、いっそのこと通報に報奨金を出すなど画期的な対策が必要ではと思うのですが、、、
