Sudden schedule change by warm spring weather!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

In the weekend, Kanmon area was warm with mild wind. Temperature went up with sun rising and we could feel like cherry blossoms may bloom soon.

In such warm climate, our guest decided to change their trip schedule just after our explanation about Kanmon view from their guest room. They enjoyed petit island cruise and rental bicycle around this strait. One of them is a Kendo player in their country. They told us just after coming back here that they really enjoyed the day.

It seems that this warm climate is precious for them who came from cold north country.

So we really expect our past guests, who once stayed here and living in the cold country now, come and stay here again to enjoy this warm spring weather.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

週末の関門エリアは風も弱く、お日様が昇ると同時に気温もどんどん上昇してきて、桜でも咲くのではないかと思えるほどでした。

そんな陽気の中、宿から見える海峡の景色を解説していると、ゲストが突然翌日の予定を変えようと言い出し、朝一番で島に渡り、島から戻って自転車をレンタルして海沿いを巡るプランにされたようです。お一人がなんと剣士らしくて、どうしても島に渡りたくなったそうです。宿に戻るや、満足した表情で「楽しかった〜！」って喜んでいました。

北の国からいらっしゃるゲストにとって、この陽気は本当に有難いみたいです。

寒い北の国で生活している、かつて当宿にいらっしゃったことのあるゲストにもまた来ていただき、是非この陽気を味わってほしいですね。

What should we open, rather than the station?!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

A few weeks ago, I put this topic on the article and professional journalist investigated and reported.

According to the news he wrote, tourist city pass of neighbor city was sold more than 80,000pcs and it became a big hit of their inbound strategy. It create Win-Win-Win relationship among transportation companies, local government and tourists from foreign countries.

On the other hand, city pass of this town made user to say “I won’t use this no more than Airport Bus.”

If tourists utilize this city pass as much as they can, they don’t use the historic station, which is schedule to have grand opening next month. It is very disappointing phenomenon it creates in this area.

As a tourist pass, it must be convenient, efficient, and economic gear for them. Or we will have tourist outflow as well as population outflow. Is it only myself who worry about it as a one member in the tourism industry.

The key player is not in the transportation companies. What we should do is just to follow the method of neighbor city. I wonder why the key player don’t understand the important role of local government.

オープンすべきなのはむしろ？！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

以前、一度記事にしたご当地の交通パス。話題にしたら、プロが調べてくれました。

なんと、となり街の交通パスは年間８万枚が売れる大ヒットになっているそうです。交通各社、自治体、そして旅行者とが Win-Win-Win の盛り上がりです。

一方でわが町のパスについては、利用者に「次回あれば、エアポートバス以外は使わない」言わせている微妙な評価です。

このパスを駆使しようとすると、せっかくグランドオープンする駅も利用しない残念な動線になってしまいます。

町の自慢スポットをグルリとすべて効率的に回るパスにしないと、人口だけでなく、観光客まで流出させてしまうのではと、業界の一員として非常に危惧しているのは自分だけでしょうか？

その鍵を握っているのは、交通各社ではないように感じています。となり街の良い仕組みを真似るだけで効果が大きいのに、それが出来ないのがなぜなのか不思議で仕方ない今日このごろです。

Good only in the first week!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

We saw many customers walking in our nearest convenience store which newly opened a day before yesterday. Last night, our guests went there, bought Onigiri and Egg sandwiches, and ate them in this dining room, smiling.

By the way, the Grand Open of Mojiko station will be 2 week later.

Various events are scheduled to be held during March, named “Grand Opening Month”.

However, we wonder if it is good of not for the tourists, who will visit during “Grand Opening Month”, walking the town without illumination lights.

As we know that illumination of last year was ended on Feb.25th, we know that they are making effort to extend it till Mar.17, But if they can extend illumination till the end of March, Mojiko can show the united power of people and events toward town revitalization.

This can be waste of big chance which comes once in a hundred years.

From another point of view, this can be unique and self-torturing idea to show the half finished character which is so Kitakyushu.

Anyway, what a lonesome port town Mojiko in weekday night is!

We may need “Re:BORN” of the mind, rather than that of the appearance.

いいのは最初の一週間だけ！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

「灯火」最寄りのコンビニのグランドオープンはオープニングセールのせいか、客の入りはそこそこあるようです。早速ウチのゲストも買い物してきたようで、ダイニングでセール価格のおにぎりやら、たまごサンドやらを笑顔で美味しそうに食べていました。

さて、２週間後にせまった門司港駅のグランドオープン！

こちらはグランドオープニングマンスと命名して、３月は各種イベントが予定されているようです。

でもね、、、イベントよりもなによりも、やっぱり街のイルミネーションがその真っ只中で消えちゃうのはどうなんだろうなと思います。

たしかに昨年のイルミネーションは２月２５日までだったので、３月１７日までやるのは「がんばっている感」は感じますが、あと２週間延長すれば、町としての一体感・やる気が全面に出せるのにって感じます。

百年に一度のイベントなのにもったいないですね。

まあ、こうした「北九州感」を前面に出すのも、一興かもしれませんが、
いかんせん平日夜の寂しさハンパない港町ですから。

箱物や体裁よりも、まずは中身を“Re:BORN”するのが良いかもね。
（お金もかからないし、、、）
