The Unfinished Study of my Life!
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
A little after this new year, I received a wonderful OTOSHIDAMA ( = new year gift in Japan).
Now I am studying my hometown history again with the book. (“Showa era of Kitakyushu”)
I’ve kept saying this is my hometown, because I was born in this town, however honestly speaking, I am feeling that there are so many things which I didn’t know.
When I think twice about it, I’ve realized that I had lived here only 1/3 of my life (furthermore, half of the period was the time before I reached the age of discretion.)
Fortunately this job should based on the knowledge about the history of this town. I really appreciate to have the opportunity to study it again at my age.
This is similar feeling as I found real value of Kyoto, when I traveled again in this age to the Kyoto, I had visited once in a study trip of my schooldays.
By the way, the person who sent me this book is one of my friends from university. We had studied together in same seminar. He is the person who has a talent to prepare perfect gift, the person really want, on the perfect timing.
He keeps doing it by putting himself in his/her shoes. I respect him and want to be the person like him.

ただいま人生復習中！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
今年、お正月に少し遅れて、すごいお年玉が届きました。
いただいた本を通して、今、故郷の歴史を学び直しています。
自分が生まれた町だから「故郷だ」と言ってはいますが、実のところ、知らないこと多いなぁとつくづく感じさせられます。よく考えてみると、人生の１／３しか住んでいなかった場所（しかも、その半分は物心が付く前の期間）なんですね。
幸いなことに、今生業にしているおもてなしは、この町のことを知らないと薄っぺらな対応しかできない仕事です。この歳で郷土のことを復習する機会を持てたことに心から感謝しています。
この感覚、修学旅行で行った京都へ大人になって再び訪れて、初めて本当の良さに気付く感覚に似ています。
ところで、この本の送り主は大学のゼミの仲間。
彼はいつも絶妙のタイミングで相手が一番よろこぶプレゼントを送るすごい才能の持ち主です。
相手の気持ちになってタイムリーに行動を起こす、、、見習わなきゃと思います。
