Fukuoka Prefecture has been making headlines recently…
Amidst reports that the prefectural assembly’s vice-chairman—who is at the center of the controversy—was resigning, a topic that came up during the press conference was the fact that he had served as the inaugural chairman of the lawmakers’ league for the “Kitashimo Road” (Shimonoseki-Kitakyushu Road) project. Also discussed were the details of the exchange in which he confided his intention to resign to the assembly chairman around the time of the league’s meetings.
Following the 2019 scandal involving the State Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the issue of SONTAKU (acting in anticipation of a superior’s wishes), we are deeply worried – as someone doing business in the local area – that this could once again tarnish the construction project.
The reason is that, every time we use the existing undersea road tunnel, we worry about its state of deterioration.
Originally, the interior of the tunnel featured beautiful white walls, but now the walls are stark black exposed concrete.
These days, single-lane traffic for maintenance work is a frequent occurrence, and there have been significant toll hikes…
People are eagerly awaiting a third route to complement the undersea tunnel and the bridge connecting Dannoura and Mekari.
Even if the bid to become a “vice-capital” is abandoned, it would have no real impact on daily life; however, for local residents, the construction of a new car road is a matter of urgent necessity.
Yet, the murky side of politics is once again shrouding this project in dark clouds—as gloomy as the walls of a tunnel.

そろそろ真面目に・潔白に、、、
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
昨今、ニュースを騒がせている福岡県、、、
渦中の県議会副議長が辞任するニュースが報道された中で、記者会見で話題にのぼったのが、彼が「北下道路（下関北九州道路）の初代議員連盟の会長」だった話。その会合の前後に辞任の話を議長に打ち明けたやり取り。
2019年に生じた国土交通副大臣の忖度事件に続いて、またまた建設計画に泥をぬる結果になるのでは、と、地元で事業をする身としては心配でたまらない。
というのも、現行の海底自動車トンネル、利用するたびにその傷み方が不安になるからです。
元々は白壁の綺麗なトンネル内部だったのが、今や真っ黒な打ちっぱなしの壁面です。
今ではしょっちゅうメンテナンスのための片側通行が実施されるし、大幅な料金値上げはあるし、、、
海底トンネル・壇ノ浦和布刈間の橋に続く第三のルートが心待ちにされています。
副首都候補には手を下ろしても実生活には全然問題ありませんが、住民として新たな自動車道建設は待ったなしの状態です。
なのに、また政治の闇がこの計画をまるでトンネルの壁の色のような暗雲に包みます。
