Only visiting wisteria garden introduced in previous posting is minimum advantage. So I add a little more information to maximize it.
Wisteria garden locates in Kawachi Reservoir area in the city of Kitakyushu.
Kawachi Reservoir is a man-made-lake created by Kawachi dam which was built in the period of 1919 to 1927 for the purpose to supply water to produce more steel to satisfy increasing demand that time.
Tourists who visit the garden by bus is just run through the lakeside and riverside. But those are very nice sightseeing spot.
You may say “that must be hot spring” but no, there are more.
Let us start downstream of the ITABITSU river.
The core holiday of Japanese Golden Week is “Children’s day”. Main character of “Children’s day” must be KOINOBORI.
Along the ITABITSU river, 300 of KOINOBORI (carp banner) are swimming these time of every year. Swimming but not in the river but above the river. It is very spectacle.
I really want many tourists from foreign countries to see this scene.
The next is upstream of the river, Kawachi Reservoir.
The thing to do at Kawachi Reservoir must be Cycling. As the rental cycle center opens only weekend and holidays, I brought my own bicycle this time.
The cycling road along the shore is about 6km and almost flat. It is quite refreshing to pedal around the reservoir in the great nature.
The last place we recommend is, YES, hot spring, an essential of leisure in Japan. This day-visit hot spring, fully equipped with restaurant, indispensable for a different purpose. we will talk about the purpose here at TOUKA, but I want tourists enjoy this wide open air spa in the full of nature.
That’s all about “one day tour around Kawachi Reservoir” which I want to recommend many tourists to visit. Because area based tour, not pin-pointed sightseeing, it must be relaxed and enjoyable.

“日本の最も美しい場所” を さらに素敵な思い出に！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
先の記事で紹介した藤園、実はここだけ行くのはとってももったいないので、すこし記事を追加します。
藤園は当市の水源「河内貯水池」の周辺エリアにあります。この河内貯水池、当時の鉄鋼物の需要に対応するため、市内を流れる板櫃川（いたびつがわ）を堰きとめ、1919年に着工、1927年に竣工した河内ダムによって形成された人造湖です。
観光バスで来る人は通り過ぎて終わりのこの「河内貯水池」と「板櫃川」、実はとても素敵なスポットです。
温泉でしょ？って、、、いえいえそれだけではありません。
まずは順に下流から、、、
日本のGolden Week (GW)、核となる休日はなんといっても「こどもの日」。こどもの日といえば、日本ではやはり「こいのぼり」。
板櫃川下流ではこの時期「こどもの日」に合わせて、300匹もの鯉のぼりが泳いでいます。泳ぐと云っても川の中ではなくて川の上ですが、その姿は壮観です。
是非この姿、外国からいらっしゃった観光客の皆さんに見てもらいたいですね。
次は一気に川を遡り、「河内貯水池」へ
ここでやるべきことは、やはりサイクリングでしょう。
レンタルサイクルセンターが土・日・祝日しか営業していないことから、自分は自転車を持っていったのですが、約6kmのサイクリングロードは湖面に合わせてほぼ平坦で、楽しくペダルをこぐことができます。自然の中のんびり湖畔を散策するのはとても気持ち良いです。
そして、最後は、、、
やっぱりにっぽんのレジャーに欠かせない温泉です。食堂完備の日帰り温泉はとても便利な施設で、河内貯水池エリア観光に別の意味でも欠かせないスポットです。
別の意味がなんなのかは、ここ「灯火」でお話するとして、是非自然の中の広々した露天の温泉を堪能していただきたいです。
以上、一日コースの「河内貯水池エリア観光」お勧めしてみました。点ではなく面で見て回る方が効率的で、リラックスできて、絶対に楽しいはずです。
「灯火」宿主は渓流釣り師。雑誌などで取り上げられる釣りスポットはその川だけ行くのではなく、その近隣の支流にも入り、さらに釣果をあげるタイプです。
ゲストさんたちにはすでに知れ渡った観光スポットだけでなく、その周辺の素敵なスポットまで各自で開拓してもらい、さらに素敵な思い出を作って貰いたいですね。
