Merry Christmas to the World, Tokyo and Kanmon!

I believe that many people enjoy Christmas time from Eve to Christmas day.

I am excited in Christmas with wearing Santa Clause costume, but the timing of my Christmas is a little different from others.

Our Christmas is the first Sunday in December. And the place we celebrate is an orphanage in Japan. That is my day of Christmas every year.

We play games and decorate cakes together with kids there. However we are sure that they want to do it in their warm family with their real and kind mom.

I keep remembering that there is not only happy children who can celebrate Christmas with their family.

世界中に、東京に、そして関門にもクリスマスが来ました。
Merry Christmas！

みなさんイブから、クリスマスへと楽しいひと時を過ごされている頃と思います。

クリスマスといえば、自分もサンタの衣装を身につけて大いに盛り上がるのですが、どうも盛り上がる日が他の人と違うようです。

自分にとってのクリスマスは12月最初の日曜。施設で生活する子供達のためにサンタになる日がクリスマスです。

当日は一緒にゲームしたり、ケーキを作ったりして、子供たちに喜んでもらうのですが、、、
きっと本当は温かい家庭の中で、優しいママと一緒に作るケーキが一番に決まってますよね。

クリスマスにママとケーキを作れない子供達が日本にいることを忘れないようにしたいと思います。

Cool way to spend Christmas Holiday!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

This year, Mojiko doesn’t have Christmas fireworks.

But Shimonoseki does have more fireworks than usually.
We could see them from our guest rooms.

However in TOUKA, we saw much more wonderful thing together. One guest, who came here attend a conference, is a professor of astronomy who came from the country of grass fields. She proposed us to see it together by using our astronomical telescope, we got at flea market.

According to her, it is easier and more beautiful to see than full moon.

We all are impressed more by the circle of natural for long time, than artificial circle.

クリスマス・ホリデーの粋な過ごし方！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

今年の門司港は、クリスマスの花火が上がりません。

その分、昨日は対岸の下関で景気よく上がっていたようです。
「灯火」からもその様子が見えました。

ここ「灯火」では花火よりもっと素敵なものをみんなで見ました。
学会に参加するために利用いただいたというゲストが、草原の国からやってきた天文学の教授で、その先生の呼びかけで、フリマで買ったウチの天体望遠鏡を使ってみんなで見ました。

満月よりも見やすくて、綺麗なんだそうです。

人工的な丸よりも、太古からの丸に皆で感動しました。

ダイヤモンドならず、、、一番短い日！/ There was no diamond in the shortest day!

There was no diamond on the shortest day!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

It was the winter solstice yesterday. Sun set at the southmost point.

Usually, we see the sun setting at the top of Mt. Sarakura from here. However we could not see the sunset yesterday, because of cloudy sky.

(We named that sunset “Diamond Sarakura” and we are expecting to see it every winter solstice.)

P.S. It is also full moon, but because of the cloud, I couldn’t see it too.

ダイヤモンドならず、、、一番短い日！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

昨日土曜日は、暦の上では「冬至」、昼が最も短い日です。
日没も一番南に沈みます。

例年だと、その一番南の日没位置が、「灯火」から見ると北九州一高い山、皿倉山の頂になるのですが、今年は曇天のため残念ながら見ることが出来ませんでした

（その様子を「ダイヤモンド皿倉」などと勝手に命名して有難がっています。）
