Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
Japanese Golden Week (GW) is just around the corner.
Kanmon & Kitakyushu area expects many travelers to visit this area in GW, as some other countries has holidays in same period.
Specially, I want to recommend my home city Kitakyushu, that has the place to visit in GW. Because best time to see the place is just same as our GW.
The place was selected as the first picture of “Japan’s 34 most beautiful places” by CNN.

As we want many people to know it and our guests to visit there, yesterday I went to take a look at the place in advance.
The place is located in small valley surrounded by mountains. There are a few but free shuttle buses takes you to the place.
The place is a wisteria garden.
As of yesterday, April 25 2017, wisteria bloomed 20% of their full bloom. But I could enjoy walking around the garden in the sweet scent of wisteria. The place is not only beautiful but also in good aroma.
According to the gardener, flower is blooming later than normal year and very best of the best time to see will be later part of the GW.
[NOTE 1]
To visit this wisteria garden, you must obtain ticket at convenience store in advance. (There is convenience stores near TOUKA but you’d better get ticket just after arrival here.)
[NOTE 2]
There is no rest rooms in the garden. So you’d better finish it at temporary toilet before entering the garden. They are temporary but well maintained rest room. They are the most clean temporary toilet in my memory.
Because the garden has only Japanese brochure. they don’t have English one, there are other notes for foreign travelers to know in advance. TOUKA try to prepare useful information for our guests, who want to go there.
More and more wisteria flowers keep blooming day by day. Please get to know the best timing

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
まもなくやって来るGolden Week（GW）。
海外でも同時期に連休になるところがあるようで、ここ関門・北九州エリアでも多くの人出が予想されています。
我がふるさと「北九州」にはそのGWに最高の見頃を迎える場所がありオススメです。
CNNが「日本の最も美しい場所34選*」に選んだその場所を、皆さんに知ってもらいたいのと、ゲストさん達に行ってみて欲しいのとで、昨日下見に行ってきました。
(*以前は31選でしたが、34選として今年更新されています。）
その場所は工業地帯のど真ん中にある駅からシャトルバスに乗っていく山の中にあります。
そこにあるのは「藤園」。
昨日4月25日現在では、まだまだ二分咲き程度でした。それでも藤の香りの漂う中、気持ち良い散策が出来ました。園の人によると2017年は開花が遅く、GWも後半の方が見頃だろうということです。
【 注意1 】
大型連休前後の4月27日（木）～5月14日（日）はコンビニでチケット（500円）を購入し、現地で入園料との差額を支払う二段階方式になるそうです。（取り扱うセブンイレブンは「灯火」のすぐ近くにあるので便利なのですが、来たらすぐにチケットを入手するのが賢明です。
【 注意2 】
入場後、園内にはトイレがなく、再入場不可なので、駐車場にある簡易トイレで用を済ませてから入園するのが賢明です。簡易トイレですが、管理がとても行き届いており、自分の記憶の中で一番きれいな管理トイレでした。
外国語のパンフレットすらないので、外国人個人旅行者には事前に留意すべきことが少なくありません。「灯火」でも行かれるゲストには出来るだけわかりやすいアドバイスができるよう準備したいと思います。
藤はこれから日に日に開花していきます。ベストタイミングを見計らってこの藤園を訪問してみてください。
