Let us talk about Kitakyushu Quasi-National Park “HIRAODAI”.
This week, I visited “HIRAODAI” or the first time in a while and find out…
It seems that there are front side and back side in this “HIRAODAI”.
*Front side:
Northeast view we will see naturally in our front, when we go up observation deck of “Hiraodai Nature Observation Center”.
*Back side:
Southwest view, completely opposite side of above.
( You will see that is the back side at first sight. It is so ugly and avoid to take picture naturally and it helps us forget about that sight conveniently.)
Center’s brochure says “To protect and nurture such irreplaceable nature and take over to the children of the next generation…” but
The mountain I looked from the “ISHIHARA-MACHI” station was completely different from that of my childhood.
Huge scar on the mountain surface could be never recovered.
As I understand that we need cement for our society,
I don’t blame Kokura Mining and Mitsubishi Matarial.
But my heart hurts with seeing human activity and huge scar of nature.
GEO Kitakyushu, which tell the great history of this land, has been damaged a lot.
Thank you and you have a nice day of protecting and nurturing important thing to the children.
P.S. For us to have correct nature protection, not to make selection committee of World Heritage and Ramsar.
Mission of Ramsar Convention is “the conservation and wise use of all wetlands”.

その肌の傷、あぁ もう戻れない！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
話題を少し戻して、北九州国定公園「平尾台」について。
今週久しぶりにこの「平尾台」を訪ねてみて気付きました。
この「平尾台」には、、、
「表」と「裏」があるようです。
表は「平尾台自然観察センター」に行き、三階の展望デッキに登ると自然とそちらを見ることになる「北東側の景色」。
裏はその逆「南西側の景色」。
（その様子は行ってみると分かります。あまりにも見栄え悪く、誰もが写真に撮らないために都合よく記憶にも残りません。）
パンフレットには「このようなかけがえのない自然を守り、育て、次の時代の子供達に引き継ぐために」と記されてはいるけれど、、、
最寄りの「石原町駅」のホームから見上げる「平尾台」は、自分が子供の頃に見たそれとはずいぶん変わっていました。
岩肌を大きくえぐるような傷は決して元にもどることはありません。
たしかにセメントは必要だと理解するだけに、
三菱マテリアルや小倉鉱業を攻めることもできず、、、
人間の営みと、そのために自然が被る深い傷に心が痛みました。
この土地の歴史の物言わぬ語り部、ジオ北九州とも呼べる山肌が大きく傷ついています。
「ラムサール条約登録」と「誰の目にも飛び込む衝撃光景」とがあまりにもしっくりこないので記事にしてみました。どこか「裸の王様」にも思えて、、、

P.S. どうぞ世界遺産認定委員やラムサール認定委員が駅のホームに降りた時に驚かない自然保護を！
ちなみにラムサールのミッションは：
“the conservation and wise use of all wetlands（すべての湿地の保全と賢明な使用）” です。
