Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
The guests who stayed during the first half of the OBON holiday had timed their visit to coincide with the fireworks festival.
Other guests who visited during the latter half of the OBON holiday had managed to see the Kanmon Straits Fireworks; however, they had stayed at their friend’s home in Fukuoka that day and came back to Kitakyushu again on the following day.
As I mentioned earlier, the guests who stayed here on the night of the fireworks took two hours to get back here from Mojiko.
We heard that the guests who took the train to Fukuoka after the fireworks festival didn’t arrive at their accommodation until 3:00am of the following day.
We also heard from them that quite a few people seemed to have come from the Fukuoka area to watch the Kanmon Straits Fireworks Festival – likely because some fireworks festival in southern Fukuoka had been cancelled due to the Kumamoto earthquake.
Thanks to our guest this time, we learned a lot about what the experience is like for someone traveling from the Fukuoka area to see the fireworks in this town.
Well, it’s extremely rare for the host to go all the way to Fukuoka just to attend fireworks displays or events and come back here late at night…
Learning about the behavioral patterns of young people provided useful insights for the future.

ゲストに教わる
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
お盆休み前半に滞在されたのは、花火大会に滞在予定を合わせたゲストさん。
同じくお盆休み後半にいらっしゃったのは、関門海峡花火は見られたものの、その日は福岡の知人宅に滞在されて翌日北九州にいらっしゃったゲストさんでした。
先にも書きましたが、花火の日に宿泊されたゲストさんは門司港からここまで２時間かけて戻られました。
花火終了後に電車で福岡に戻られたゲストさんは、滞在先に到着したのは日付変わって午前３時だったそうです。
今年は熊本の地震のせいで福岡南部の花火大会が中止になったせいか、福岡方面から関門海峡花火を観にこられた人も結構いたようだと聞くことが出来ました。
今回ゲストさんのおかげで、福岡あたりからこの町の花火を見に来られるとどんなふうになるのか教わることが出来て良い勉強になりました。
まあ、宿主がわざわざ花火やイベント参加のために福岡に行って夜遅くに帰ってくることはまずありませんが、、、
若い人たちの行動バターンを知れて今後の参考になりました。
