Unexpected scene in TV!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

It will be almost 6 years since we opened this guesthouse.

As we have kept this business so long, we are having unexpected unique happenings.

For example, when I watched a TV program which introduce small islands in Japan recently, I found a person in the screen whom I know.

I recognized that one of our repeater guests already visited the spot I would like to go someday and there were TV clues there occasionally.

I will not forget the face I meet more than twice. So I got excited with thinking I will have such unique surprises.

予期していなかった光景！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

この宿を始めてから、もう少しで６年になりますが、、、

長く続けていると、予想だにしていなかった面白い出来事が起こるもので、、、

先日もテレビの地方紹介番組を見ていると、見覚えのある顔がそこにあるではないですか！

以前から自分も気になっていたスポット。当宿のリピーター・ゲストさんに先を越されてしまったことをテレビで知りました。
（ 早速「うらやましい」のメッセージを送りました。）

二度会えば顔を忘れない自分は、これから先もこんなサプライズがあるかもな、とワクワクしてきました。

冥利 / Advantage

Advantage

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Since spring came to this town, we have had various good news from our repeater guests.

We share our happy life here with our guests and our guests share happy life events with us.

What we pursue here is not the buzzword “Sharing Economy” but “Sharing Joy” from the bottom of our heart.

Though we were stranger each other, before our guests visited here,

now some of them call me “uncle in Kyushu island”. I personally feel advantage as a host.

冥利

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

春になって、親しくなったゲストさんたちから続々とうれしい知らせが届いています。

海峡の町の楽しい暮らしをシェアしたら、ゲストさん達からはうれしい出来事をシェアいただいたというお話。

ここで目指すのは、はやり言葉の「シェアリング・エコノミー」ではなくて、 心からの「シェアリング・ジョイ」。

宿泊利用いただくまでは、見ず知らずのゲストと宿主だったのが、、、

今では九州の叔父さんとまで呼んでいただいて、ほんと宿主冥利に尽きます。

とっても羨ましい話 / Very envious situation

Very envious situation

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

As I introduce a topic about children in the previous article, let me share another topic about children today.

Since the opening of this guesthouse, we have had a lot of guests who are one particular occupation.

The occupation is:

EnglishTeacher01

English Teacher!

It is not Japanese English teacher but native English speaking English teacher.
( Some of them are called as ALT: Assistant Language Teacher. )

EnglishTeacher02

We had welcomed such teachers and now their staying in this guesthouse is very precious for us during COVID-19 pandemic.

And I do envy present children very much.

When I looked back history of my English education, I feel like I brushed up whole my English knowledge during four years when I stayed in the U.S. to work there.

English education in junior high school at that time was OK, because it was beginner period and junior high school is mandatory education.

Problem was high school English education. I passed entrance exam and joined in a good preparatory school. However English education there was not practical. I did realize that in the U.S. ( Sadly the high school is no longer exists on this earth.)

How about your English education? Are you satisfied with it?

とっても羨ましい話

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

前回子どもの話題を出したついでに、気になっていることをシェア。

当宿の開業以来、ある特定の職業のゲストさんに多く利用していただいています。

その職業とは、、、、

英語の先生！

日本人の教師ではありません。

ネイティブスピーカーの英語の先生です。（中には ALT: Assistant Language Teacherと呼ばれる若者も少なくありません。）

EnglishTeacher02

以前からいらっしゃっていたのですが、コロナ禍になって目立つありがたい存在です。

そして今の子どもたちをとても羨ましいと思います。

自分の英語学習を振り返ると、中学から始めた英語を、大人になって体験した４年間の海外駐在中にすべてやり直した感覚です。

中学は義務教育だし、学び始めの時期なのでまだ良しとしても、一番無駄・不毛だったと感じるのが高校時代です。

せっかく受験という選抜フィルターをすり抜けて、一応当時は*進学校と言われた学校に入学したものの、英語教育の質は全く実践的でなかったという事実をアメリカで思い知らされました。（*当時は、としたのは、悲しいかなその学校はもう無いからです。）

だから、小学校から本格的な英語に触れることが出来る今の子どもたちを本当に羨ましく思います。
（ただＡＬＴとして頑張っているゲストさんからは現代の英語教育の課題も悩みとしてよく聞きますが、、、）
