And speaking of disappointments…
The biggest disappointment in our city’s business world recently is this!
“Nissan abandons plans to build a new battery factory for electric vehicles in Kitakyushu”

At the beginning of last year, such a grand plan was made,

Hibikinada area, Wakamatsu Ward, Kitakyushu City
* Site Area: Approximately 150,000 m²
* Total Investment: 153.3 billion yen
* Scheduled Start of Construction: FY2025
* Scheduled Start of Operations: FY2028
* Job Creation: Approximately 500 people
only to be withdrawn less than half year later.
To make matters worse, due to the company’s deteriorating performance, talks of “transferring and consolidating production” have emerged. While production at the neighboring town of Kanda will apparently continue, we’ve heard that company employees in town are extremely worried that this location might also be targeted for layoffs.
We do hope that this production transfer simply leads to an increase in the population of our city.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
さらに残念といえば、、、
おいらの街、経済界での近年最大の残念といえば、これ！
「NISSAN、北九州市での電動車用のバッテリー新工場の建設を断念」

昨年初めにこんな風呂敷が拡げられて、
プロジェクト概要
＊工場建設予定地：福岡県北九州市若松区響灘エリア
＊敷地面積：約15万㎡
＊投資総額：1533億円
＊建設開始予定：2025年度
＊稼働開始予定：2028年度
＊雇用創出：約500名を予定
それが半年も経たないうちに撤回されたというお話。
その後はさらに悪いことに、業績悪化のために「生産の移管統合」の話が持ち上がり、聞いた話では、拠点として隣町の苅田での生産は継続されるも、人員整理の対象はココでもあるのではと同社関係者は不安で仕方がないらしいです。
この生産移管が、単純においらの街の人口増加に結びつくと良いですね。
