I’ve never seen this!
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
First of all, I thank to my schoolmates from high school, team mates of East Japan Tsunami recovery volunteer, Yoga mates and motorcycle club mates and so on, who worried about TOUKA and me. Here I am informing of the safe of guesthouse and myself.
The sound of rain got loud in early morning of Jul.6th. It was louder than my alarm clock. Sound of rain and firetrucks made me woke up.
After guests’ breakfast, I sent them off with warning them about hazardous rain and I drive my car to pick up my father who come out from hospital before lunch.
As route #3 was crowded with cars, I chose route #199 to Mojiko. From route #199, I could see several small landslide on the surface of the mountain.
After I picked up my father, I chose route #3 to go back his house, as I saw the opposite side was crowded. On the way back to DAIRI, I saw several places with covered by mud and rocks, such as Shirakizaki, Kuzuha.
At the entrance of DAIRI area, “OOKAWA BASHI” I saw a big landslide and we have to drive two-way traffic in normal one-lane.
The road behind my parents house was like river with big rocks.
However, the most surprising thing that I saw was color of Kanmon strait. It was like mud and that made us think it was like a river. It was my first time to see such muddy strait since my childhood.
After driving between Dairi area and Mojiko area, I noticed one thing. It is that the landslide points were almost same as the Hazard Map which local government made and distributed for us.
What I want to share with you, readers of this article, is that you should check the hazard map of your area and consider how to evacuate from any hazards.
Furthermore, I want to mention about less concern about hazard of guests from foreign countries. I kept alarming them by SNS about hazardous rain, but they kept enjoy sightseeing even such emergent situation. As the result, the time they came back was after date was changed. They might run out battery of their phone and was in the traffic jam on route #3. I think it is not for their safety. If the city of Kitakyushu want to make itself grow with tourism, it should have the system to let foreign travelers know hazard information and guide for safety evacuation. Usually they are focusing to visit as many as spots in certain time of their schedule. We have to let them pay attention to the emergency.

こんなの見たことないっ！
世界中に朝が、そして大雨の降った関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
まずは今回関門エリアを襲った豪雨について、ご心配していただいた同級生、バイク仲間、ヨガ仲間、震災ボランティアメンバー他に感謝すると同時に、とりあえず現時点では宿も自分自身も無事であることを報告いたします。
６日金曜日未明からひどくなった雨音は、朝になって目覚ましよりも大きく、消防車の音も加わった時点で飛び起きる事になりました。
朝食後、くれぐれも気をつけて観光するようにとゲストを送り出した後、強烈な雨とサイレンの出かけるのは躊躇しましたが、白内障手術から退院する父を迎えに門司港へ。
行きは国道３号は混雑していたので、国道１９９号を利用。途中山手を見上げると所々で小規模の土砂崩れしているのが確認できました。
１９９号を小倉方面へ向かう反対車線はひどい混み様だったので、父をピックアップした後、帰りは３号線を使って実家のある大里地区へ戻りました。途中白木崎・葛葉あたりでは各所で瓦礫混じりの茶色い水が道路を覆っていて大変な状態でした。
大里地区への玄関口「大川橋」付近では大森公園西側の斜面が大きく崩れていて反対車線を対面通行しており、渋滞になっていました。
実家の裏手の坂も水が川のように流れていて、大きな石がゴロゴロ。ひどい状態でした。
なかでも一番驚いたのが、海峡の色。どこもかしこも濃い土色に染まり、本当に川のように見えました。幼い頃までさかのぼってもこんな関門海峡を見たのは初めてです。
今回たまたま大雨後に大里・門司港間を車で走り、気付いたことがあります。それは今回土砂災害の起こった箇所と行政が作成したハザードマップとがほぼ一致していること。ニュースで報道された関門トンネル上も奥田の土砂崩れ箇所もマップのとおりです。
長くなりましたが、この記事を読んでいただいた方には、是非ご自身がお住いになっているエリアのハザードマップを確認し、災害時の対応について事前に考えてほしいと強く思いました。
最後に、、、観光にと出掛けていった外国人ゲスト達、水害リスクを何度もSNSで伝えているのに、緊迫感がまったくなく観光を続けたようで、７日に日付が変わっても戻ってきませんでした。ここから町を見下ろすと３号線も１９９号線も門司港・下関方面へはひどく渋滞していたので、それにハマり戻れずにいるのかもしれません。しかしあと少し雨が強ければ彼らは戻ってこれなかったかもしれません。もし北九州が観光都市を目指すのであれば、外国人観光客にも災害状況を多言語で的確に伝える方法を行政は考えるべきだと思います。ただでさえ限られた時間の中、出来るだけ観光地・ショッピングスポットを見て回ろうとしている彼らの注意を喚起する方法を。
