Nuisances are alike in some ways

Do you know what the biggest hassle is when cleaning a guesthouse?
It is…
Hair – specifically, long hair from women.
(There are other troublesome things, too, but it outnumbers them all.)
There seems to be nothing more off-putting for a new guest upon entering the room than finding this lying around.
(We have even had an elder guest with long hair point this out to us.)
Even after we’ve cleaned up hair like that, a gust of wind can blow it into unexpected corners where it piles up.
Some of it even works its way deep into carpets and mats.
And when we try to pick them up with our fingers, they sometimes cling to us due to static electricity.
In fact, there is something in this world that feels remarkably similar.
That is incredibly troublesome – and as for where we can find it…
It’s in the sea! It’s a jellyfish.
Since the seawater temperature was high, I thought they wouldn’t show up this year—even after Obon…
However they’ve actually appeared recently.
When those tentacles wrap around your fingers, they feel exactly like long hairs of women.
I don’t get stung on my fingertips or the arm that is tanned, but if their tentacles touch the untanned side or an area of soft skin, a shock-like pain shoots through.
Unfortunately, I carelessly got bitten on the back of my knee.
The host absolutely dislikes both of them.

厄介者ってどこか似てる
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
宿屋の掃除で何がいちばん厄介かご存知ですか？
それは、、、
髪の毛、、、それも女性の長い髪の毛です。
（厄介なのは他にもありますが、数の面で上まわります。）
新しいゲストさんが入室した時に、これが落ちていることほど嫌悪感を感じることはないようです。
（長い髪の年配のゲストさんに指摘されたこともあります。）
そんな髪の毛、掃除したはずでも、風にあおられて思いもかけないところに吹きだまってたりします。
カーペットやマットの中に入り込むものもあります。
で、それらを指で掴んで取ろうとすると、静電気で絡みついてきたりするんです。
実はそれによく似た感触のものが、この世の中にあります。
そちらも超がつくほど厄介で、それがどこにいるかというと、、、
海の中！
海水温が高いので、今年はお盆過ぎても出てこないかな、と思っていたら、、、
最近になって出てきたんです。
その触手が指に絡みつくと、まさに長い髪の毛のような感触です。
指先や日焼けしている側の腕は刺されませんが、それが日焼けしていない側や皮膚の柔らかいところに触れると感電したような痛みが走ります。
今回、不覚にも膝裏を刺されてしまいました。
どっちの厄介者も宿主にとってはほんとうに大嫌いな存在です。
